Not sure which film you're talking about, but none of The House Jack Built, Salo, or A Serbian Film were made by Hollywood. They are Danish, Italian, and Serbian, respectively.

Just read the wiki on this. Alec Baldwin and Martin Scorcesse signed shite advocating for this film. Hollywood pedophiles.

They advocated for it because it is an anti-fascist screed directed by one of the most respected European directors in film history. I'll never watch Salo or A Serbian Film again, but Salo is a difficult watch for multiple reasons and is disturbing on multiple levels; A Serbian Film revels in its shock value and amps it up with annoying editing and soundtrack. It's a vapid, pop-art version of something like Salo

Not sure why The House that Jack Built is included here. It's violent, but much of it is off-screen. It's a weird serial killer movie, but it's far from the most gory or gross.

The House That Jack Built wasn't very graphic at all. The subject matter was disturbing but there wasn't a lot of blood or graphic violence on camera.

I haven't seen this film but so was Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer. Very little blood and not that graphic.

I think what OP is taking about is the difference between Friday the 13th masked make-believe murder and gore and when a film actually sanitizes the murder and makes it all too real life. Cold and brutal and methodical instead of unseen over-the-top masked man.

Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer was like that. Nothing pleasant or entertaining about the film...just him methodically, coldly killing people that seemed real.

That's not entertainment to me. I don't want a film of murder and violence filmed like a documentary.

Violence and gore can be over-the-top and the movie will still only get an R-rating.

But when presenting a subject a certain non-cinematic way, it changes how people see it.
