We have one. Klipsch speakers. Can’t remember how much the projector was. We bought it used from a sports bar that was closing and it was pennies on the dollar for what a new one will run you. You will have to replace the lamp every few years, and those suckers are a couple hundred per punch, but that’s about the only cost after you set it up. I’d also suggest painting the room (ours in the basement) a dark color. We did maroon and ceiling is dark blue

First, if you can control the light in the theater and especially if you are willing to go very dark on the paint (Bat Cave) get a PJ. There is NO comparison between a 120+ wide acoustically transparent screen and a TV.

I just ripped out my HT to start over. Will be using a Sony VW695ES and a 132" wide (151" diagonal) 16:9 AT screen. I have to start building the boxes for the subs, 16 18" and 2 21" subs all in LLT alignments tuned to ~12 hertz. They will be powered by multiple Crown pro amps. The pre/pro will be a Marantz 8805 13.2 surround sound processor. The front speakers will be DIY Soundgroup Titans, the sides and backs will be Soundgroup HTM-12 and the 6 Atmos speakers will be Soundgroup Volt 10s also driven by Crown amps.

Cost for the AV equipment is looking like about $55k with me doing all the work and $10k is acoustic treatments and various other upgrades, will be reusing the seating.

An HT can be done with a budget of a couple of thousand or tip the scales at over $500k. If you are even semi-serious do a deep dive into the AVS forums plenty of info for every budget level.
