Honestly, one of my favorite boxing movies. It's also a pretty damn good book.
Decent cast too with Lou Gossett Jr, James Woods, Oliver Platt, Heather Graham and an almost unrecognizable Jim Cavizel.
Anyone else like this early nineties gem?

It was on ION last night -- the last bastion of late 80s and early 90s movies you forgot you liked. Yeah, Mack -- or Hambone in this movie -- has played damn near every athlete and almost every position on a football team at one point or another.
They explore the Macom Diggs story line a bit more in the book. Can't remember if they go into the fact that Gillon basically poisoned Diggs in his last fight, but Diggs' will to win was so strong that they had to keep giving him more and it wrecked his nervous system.
And it's hinted that Gabriel and Wolf were gay together in prison...or at least really close. That's why he called the second line up from NOLA for the funeral.
