I remember but it just didn't carry any weight for me. I wasn't convinced by it. Maybe it was bc I was never sold on Rita's and Dex's relationship in the first place. Season 5 was rather forgettable to me but not abominable as 6. I just felt let down with it coming off a good season 4.

When I look back on Dexter as a series the stand outs are seasons 1 & 2. Maybe it was bc I was new to the the series and I marathon watched seasons 1,2 & 3 to watch season 4 when it aired but season 4 didn't stick with me like 1
& 2. Lithgow was good. I think of you take out Rita's "shock for shock's sake" death season 4 would be just average to me instead of good.

I have an interesting theory for how it ends that I've had since season 2. I think Matthews killed Dexter's father. Since we initially learned from Matthews told Dexter that Harry commuted suicide, due to harry finding out what Dexter had become (what Dexter believes), I really think Harry was catching on to Matthews and thusly Matthews had him killed. It'd be a nice way to have a familiar threat versus a new baddie for the season. If I recall season 7 correctly: with Laguerta dead it'd be reasonable to see Matthews reinstated, just as he was trying to do to get his pension. Shite goes down and some how Dexter Catches wind of Matthews seedy side and with Deb in tow they try to nail Matthews. It'd be nice to see the department split on this with Matthews using the department to apprehend 2 of their own at some point. Anywho idk how they'd do it but as long as Matthews is the main bad guy I'd love to see it. Idk if anyone else shares this view point but I'd like to hear what y'all think it'll end.

I think the ending will be great, one thing I've always loved was how great each season finale was, so I don't think they'll shite the bed on this

I also can't wait rinse how they end it all. I hope it's some kind of nuts ending. I'm not expexting a a happy one either. To me with Dexters nature, I don't see how you can.

He has to have super aids by now. I always thought he would die by one of Deb's ribs stabbing him in the heart while banging.

I swear he is trying to out skinny Deb.

It definitely was needed for her character. There were a few instances where they drop or completely redo her story line from season to season, I feel because they didn't know what direction to take her character.
