Solid episode. Some of it seemed kind of forced though.
The Trisha scene was rather unbelievable.
As with most Dexter seasons, it seemed to start a tad slow but will be in full swing by episode 3-4.
I already feel like it will be a much better season than 5 was, thank God.

Agreed. I'm not a very religious guy but it seems like they could take this running theme about religion over the top a little bit and really offend some people with it.

Is say most people that follow a show about a serial killer are not religious pussies.
Trinity was a religious type too BTW.

I think Batista will be the one hot on Dexter's trail this season. With his religious questions to Batista, religious murders, coming and going late at night, out on his boat. The sister is going to say something that makes Batista suspect Dex.

very true. I just thought Dexter's inner thoughts while talking to Batista went a little overboard there. I don't care though.

That's what I thought. How much trouble can these people stumble into? Deb just so happens to be at the restaurant when an incredibly rare type of crime happens? And aren't there multiple homicide divisions in Miami/Dade? Yet of course our crew caught both ends of the brand new serial killer that is teed up for Dexter to track.
Even the killing of the football guy - was that supposed to actually be out in the shed behind the school or did Dex bring him somewhere else? Because the former is way too risky - and the latter...where the frick did he get a full sized scoreboard to lay the guy on?
I'm sure the season will be OK, but I thought this episode was pretty flimsy. And they of course continued the grand tradition of making the peripheral characters boring as hell - really, who gives a shite about the Angel/Laguerta thing?
Also, pretty weak on the religious angle at the preschool. (I'm actually starting to get annoyed with the number of shows that depict all this anguish about getting a kid into a preschool).

So I was having a conversation with my girlfriend about this....
I f Dexter is
-Dancing
-Getting blowjobs from strangers
-talking to himself in the mirror about "popularity"
Does this mean his character is "growing" or just straight up changing?

I love where the season is going with the villains. It did seem like he was almost reckless though with the football guy. I guess he did say he was having a good year though.

And he sends the guy a text from the cell phone of a girl neither has seen in 20 years. The police aren't going to check his phone records when he turns up missing?

Yeah. I feel like a lot of the writing is just being mailed in.

What about at the beginning when he called in his own stabbing....from seemingly his own phone.

They've clearly made the decision to just act as if logistics are irrelevant.

How did he know who would respond to the call also?

Dexter is slowly morphing into Bourne.

Dexter has always done his homework and planned these things out. I am sure he knew these guys were partners and worked that specific area during those hours of the night. Phone could have been one of those pre-loaded minutes phones? The only thing I can't figure out is the hot chicks phone being used. Unless he knows she will be cleared when questioned about the missing guy.

I thought Quinn found out about Dexter and died or something. Refresh my poor memory
Posted on 10/3/11 at 3:59 pm to skuter
I think Quinn knows about Dexter, but Dexter saved his arse (even though he didn't kill the PI). Quinn had the PI's blood on his shoes and other evidence pointed to him. The blood on his shoe would have been the final nail, but Dexter altered the report and said it wasn't a match.

Quinn knows Dexter's into some messed up shite but after Dexter cleared him when he could have framed him for the PI's murder, he is gonna lay off. Plus he doesnt want to ruin his shot with Deb.
