Pretty much pointless like El Camino was for Breaking Bad. I know Todd was an a-hole to Jesse based on their breaking bad interaction. I didnt need to see it El camino.

Whoa whoa whoa! You talkin’ all wrong.

El Camino was awesome! And who said anything about “need to see it?” “Wanted to see it and was thrilled that I did,” is all you need to say.

Would be great of they can find a way to bring back characters we're not expecting.

We just finished the series about 5-6 months ago on Netflix, and we both thought it stayed good through the end. There was a little drop off, but I never thought it dragged on or got boring.

We finished a rewatch last night. 1-4 were great. 5 was solid but not horrible. 6 had potential. 7 was decent. 8 had some GREAT points in it and a ton of potential but they couldn't stick the landing.

re: Dexter returns
Maybe it’s just me, but by season 5, Dexter shows too many human emotions and cares too much.

And it just goes on from there.

It seems like they got too far from the premise that he’s a sociopath with no human emotions.

ETA: My theory is Michael C Hall got too much creative control as the series went on and he’s a typical Hollywood emotional pussy and pulled the show in that direction.

It became less of a character study (with ridiculous plot points of course) and more of let’s corner the main character and see how he gets out of this jam.

I get this take. But I think it was part of his nature to try to conform, which was always there. He was taught to channel his nature into specificity but struggled with doing so.

Rita was the worst thing to happen to him because she gave him that human attention even though he was mostly faking it initially.

As others have stated well, it's when Clyde left, the show's writing and character perspectives slowly went off the rails.

I'm still on the record that S4 of Dexter was one of the best seasons in TV history - top whatever. And it's not even the ending with Rita. Lithgow was absolutely amazing and there's a moment earlier in the season that is mind-blowing of his character's manipulation. It still brings chills to me thinking about it.
