Just watched it tonight at the Robinson Film Center. It was really, really good. Bridges really made this movie. Much of the movie was just the camera showing him, his body language and his emotions. There was probably 10 minutes of just him picking his guitar.

The supporting cast was really good. Maggie Gyllenhall, Robert Duvall , and even a very nice performance from Colin Farrell.

One of the lesser actors in the movie had a Q & A afterwards and it was really insightful. He said they tried every production company and FOX Searchlight picked it up after rejecting it once. He said it almost went straight to video. What a shame that would have been.

also didn't really believe Colin Farell as a big time country star. However the movie as a whole was very good. Jeff Bridges owned, as usual.

I thought so too - he can be a very good actor - "In Bruges" comes to mind, for instance.

In Bruges always comes to mind when Farrell is mentioned. At least in prison and at least in death, you know, I wouldn't be in fricking Bruges.

In that case, I'll submit "Tigerland" for you.

I thought the movie was pretty bleh. Nothing special, predictable storyline, country music version of the Wrestler except the Wrestler was alot better. The acting was good etc... but it wasnt a very hard stretch for any of them.
I don't see why all the hype is there.
