Is it really surprising that fandango and premium subscribers are getting special access to new movie sales? It’s just like going to a concert or a sporting event, you end up buying tickets from some shitty third party that gets to buy up all the tickets that aren’t taken by season ticket holders

except this is more akin to season ticket holders being purposely held up in the ticket line and then when they go to their seats, they were already filled.

neither analogy is perfect, but it would be cleaner if AMC just said everybody is paying more for first weekend shows instead of the site "locking up."

eta: AMC was/is/will be garbage. i've never felt screwed over by Cinemark.

I preferred Regal, especially when they'd do the studio promotions where you get the digital copy of the movie after completing the checklist for a given promo, but they closed up shop in my neighborhood, and all we're left with is AMC.
