Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa played Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat when it came out in 1995.

In 2013, during season 2 of Mortal Kombat: Legacy, he played Shang Tsung again.

Now he both voices and had his face motion captured for Shang Tsung in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11.

He'll always be remembered for four words.

"Your soul.....is mine"

Another fun fact about the film. Trevor Goddard's performance as Kano was so well received that Ed Boon changed Kano and made him Australian as a result.

Fun fact about Tervod Goddard. He wasn't really Australian. He was actually from Croydon which is one of the boroughs in Greater London. FOr whatever reason he just claimed he was Aussie during most of his acting career.

I didnt like how they made scorpion and sub zero pawns in the first film.

The story of the battling clans and everything else with those two was more interesting than Sonya, Johnny cage and liu kang.

Also they insinuated like they were all from outworld when those two, even shang tsung were originally from earthrealm

Doing Mortal Kombat in live action is best done in an HBO series (Warner owns Netherrealm Studios).

Yep. And while Scorpions fight scene is extended and sorta badass, Sub Zero went out like a bitch in like 39 seconds. Most of us (kids) that went to that movie went to see those two

Still GOAT video game movie tho.

Let's play Devil's Advocate here.

In 1995, there had been two Mortal Kombat games released. The extent of the story between Scorpion and Sub-Zero was as follows:

Sub-Zero murdered Hanzo Hasashi and his entire clan. Hasashi returned as a hellspawned spectre and killed Sub-Zero in the tournament. In the second tournament, Scorpion saw Sub-Zero spare an opponent's life and eventually finds that he is the younger brother of the original Sub-Zero.

We don't find out that Quan Chi is responsible for the death of the Shirai Ryu until MK4.

We don't find out that Noob Saibot is the original Sub-Zero until MK6 (Deception).

We don't find out the names of the brothers until Mortal Kombat (2011).

In the new game timeline, it takes 25 years for Hanzo Hasashi and Kuai Liang to make peace.
