Probably his was of explaining how they found Anikin without having to make things long and drawn out. Either way people are going to bitch about it.

the original series had any number of cases where different characters used the force to detect other living things and especially more powerful people. they didn't need the metachlorian stuff to move the plot forward

Other than Luke, Vader, Obi Wan, Yoda, and the Emperor who else is there? Remember Leia didn't start getting any sliver of coherence until ESB.

My issues with the Force is the way it was perceived between the OT and the prequels. In the OT the force is more mystical, and they even make reference to Vader being part of a religion.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but from what I understand in the prequels the force WASN'T mystical. They pretty much had it down to a science. Like with The academy and all and Jedi were common.

But in the OT the academy had long been wiped out and Jedi weren't running around everywhere. So it was much much much fewer in numbers and with that the common folk somewhat disregard the Jedi/Sith. So it does seen more mystical.

Just IMO.

And this is why the prequels suck. The original trilogy set the idea that even You, Mr. Joe Schmoe, could be able to use the force by learning the ways of it. To the imperial army the force was a mystic old religion of sorts.

What pisses me off is that Obi Wan and Qui Gon use the force to run super fast from the Destroyer Droids yet Obi Wan doesn't use it to get through the red gates at the end of the film. I also hate hate Anakin frog leaps back into battle with Dooku. Horrible special effects.

If they can fly, then why didn't Mace Windu stop his fall when he was shocked out the window by Darth Sidious?

Who is saying this isn't the case? I haven't seen one tangible reason to believe that Mace Windu died after the attack by Sidious.
