The 3rd season of Broadchurch has its American debut tonight. Reviews have been very positive & indicate this season is closer to the quality of season 1.

I know several on this board are a fan of the show & have watched the first two seasons on Netflix.

Have you seen Gracepoint?

The reason I ask is that I've never seen Broadchurch but did watch Fox's(?) adaptation of Gracepoint. Didn't want to sit through entire season of a series if it is the same story I've already seen.

Completely forgot about Gracepoint. I never saw it, but seem to remember reading that Gracepoint started out very, very similar to Broadchurch. Then the plot veered onto its own after a few episodes, but the first few episodes are almost a shot for shot remake of Broadchurch.

By most accounts, it is a pale imitation of Broadchurch. Do yourself a big ol' favor and watch the real deal - you won't regret it.

Jesus man.

Just watch Broadchurch. Season 1 is brilliant. Season 2...not so much.

Season 3 is incredible imo. It's what season 2 should've been.

It's crime / mystery storytelling at its very best. In many ways it's better than season 1. The way they are able to build up the suspense is second to none.

They literally took a dump on Season 1 with Season 2. It was a ludicrous outcome and made no sense legally, according to many British law scholars.

I look forward to season 3 on Netflix.

Can I skip season 2 and not miss much?

No IMO. While it's nowhere near as good as season one, you need to see it to understand parts of season one's story line.

Gracepoint was terrible. Season 1 of Broadchurch is one of the best seasons of any show I've ever watched. Best thing to do is forget you ever watched Gracepoint. Think I'm in the majority when I say Season 2 was a clusterfrick. First episode of season 3 was fantastic.
