On Arrested Development... FOX did everything to keep this show afloat, including parking it in the Sunday night post-Simpsons spot that allows any show to get increased ratings. But even with their increased ratings on Sundays, they were filling a spot that could get better ratings with a different show. So they moved it again. Don't blame FOX, blame America for not watching.
On Firefly... The Firefly original two-hour pilot sucked. It was boring as hell, which is why FOX asked for a second, more entertaining pilot (which they aired as the first episode).
The one show that FOX really missed the boat on was Futurama. 6pm on Sundays is a deadly spot, especially during football season.
