I'm three years into Infinite Jest and I love it. Should finish this month and move on to Pale King, then back to Infinite Jest for a less spread out read.
It's long, but I've enjoyed it so much I've tried to stretch it out as long as possible. Plus, it gets heavy (figuratively) and I need to back away every now and then.

I just read my first fiction piece by DFW the other day. His short story "The Depressed Person" ( PDF available here).
Honestly it read like an autobiography with the panache of his cultural criticism and typically excellent obersvation making. But it was also dark, ironic, hyperliterate, and all the other things you think of when he's at his best. Still haven't read Infinite Jest. I have to get through my annotated copy of Ulysses before I take on another mammoth novel.

Infinite Jest has great memory. I can put it down, pick it up six months later, and I'm still there. It's vivid and heavy and sad and hilarious and brilliant.

If you like DFW, read Consider the Lobster. It's a collection of articles he wrote for different magazines. Pretty hilarious, especially the Lobster boil.

Haven't read it, but heard nothing but glowing reviews of the book. for the most part the movie reviews were bad,.

What did you think of the movie?

I didn't see it or read the book, a couple of close friends rave about the book, say the movie was meh. Seems in line with most of what I've heard.

i like them. i think anasazi boys if my least favorite of his other books. stardust was MUCH better than the movie, and as i've said, i love his short stories.
get his short story books and you will be happy
i also loved the house of leaves and am on my second copy of that book.

i also read a book years ago called the name of the wind that i liked a lot. sort of an adult harry potter (but only kind of). it's by peter rothfuss and i need to find it and read it again. apparently the second book is out now.
i also really enjoy joe hill, who is stephen king's son. try heart shaped box
pretty good, and funny at parts, but kind of falls apart a bit at the end.

The book is fantastic. Blood Meridian is fantastic as well.

Gonna throw in a late suggestion. George Saunders' short story collection Pastoralia is really good. "Sea Oak" in particular was wonderful and weird

It's Patrick Rothfuss and the second book Wise Man's Fear has just been published. It's at least as good as the first.
Adult Harry Potter? Really?
HAHA
Oh I have the ebook version of both if anyone is interested...

I agree with
The Hunger Games Trilogy was fantastic. I couldn't put any of the books down and I ended up reading the entire trilogy in about 8 days.
