In fact, what force feats did Luke perform without being either walked through it, or formally trained?

Calling the lightsaber on Hoth is all I got. Even then, it took him several minutes and 3 tries.

Oh, my mistake. I forgot about all the formal training Luke got in flying with magic.

And that's about it...

If that's all we need for "training" Rey should be the greatest magic person we can imagine.

Was that before she read Kylo's mind and jedi mind tricked a stormtrooper?

And also, that was when Rey showed up and saved Finn by out saber fighting and out force-powering a formally trained force user with massive experience?

It's infinitely more than Rey got.

All Rey got was the knowledge that shite exists, so she can now do it better than everyone

Here is the script, buttercup: LINK

quote:

Luke lines up the yellow cross-hair lines of the targeting device's screen. He looks into the targeting device, then starts at a voice he hears.

BEN'S VOICE
Use the Force, Luke.

EXT. SURFACE OF THE DEATH STAR

The Death Star trench zooms by.

INT. LUKE'S X-WING - COCKPIT

Luke looks up, then starts to look back into the targeting
device. He has second thoughts.

BEN'S VOICE
Let go, Luke.

A grim determination sweeps across Luke's face as he close his eyes and starts to mumble Ben's training to himself.

Wait. . .what was he mumbling to himself?

BEN'S VOICE

So much training.

quote:

Luke nodded, a numbness settling in at his center. He’d known Ben for only a day, and yet even he’d been able to see that Ben was a great man. But there was still so much about the Jedi he didn’t know. And he hadn’t actually given Luke any details about his life, not really. Something about that made Luke feel betrayed, and it brought his anger back up to a simmer beneath his skin.

So.

Much.

Training.

That's not true at all. I believe it's heavily implied that Luke had known Obi-Wan for most of his life. He immediately recognized him when he's saved from the Tusken Raiders in the first movie.

Take it up with Canon.

He was the only crazy old dude in the middle of nowhere. Recognizing that doesn't mean he knew him.

It depends upon which Canon you are referring to. Disney wiped the slate clean as soon as they bought Lucasfilm.

But he did know him. He told C-3PO as much when he said that he didn't no anyone named Obi-Wan Kenobi but knew someone named Ben Kenobi.

Canon is Canon.

*Knew of him.

No he didn't. He recognized similarities in two different names.

I have said it countless times, but these bleeding hearts are barking up the wrong tree trying to paint action/comic book/fantasy fans as women haters. They have no problems with strong female leads/characters, so long as they make sense.

Ellen Ripley
Sarah Connor
Charlie Baltimore (Long Kiss Goodnight)
Wonder Woman
Black Widow
Dottie Hinson (League of their Own)
Alita
Eowyn
Leeloo (5th Element)
Princess Leia

Respectfully, most of these characters are waaaaaaaaaaaay before the current "girl power for girl power's sake" movement.

Alice in Resident Evil too, and those movies suck.
