Agreed.
But that supports what I'm saying. The truly great players position themselves in such a way so that regardless of the Final Three HOH, they're going to be in the final two. It's why I think Dan is so great and why Derrick gets credit for being an outstanding player as well.
Getting rid of Ian over Shane would have prevented Dan from achieving this optimal positioning. It's the biggest reason why Vanessa falls short of being great in my mind. It seemed like she did everything right up until finale night, but when it came to it her goat stabbed her in the back. She didn't properly position herself.
