I feel like Fincher tends to fall back into dark, gritty genre films whereas Nolan is showing he can master all genres: SciFi, Heist/Thriller, Comic book, Historical drama, Biopic, War. Nolan films are more of an event and surrounds more interesting subject matter. Nolan films are far more re-watchable IMO.
When a Fincher film comes out, I have to watch the trailer before deciding whether or not I want to watch it. When a Nolan film comes out, I buy tickets the moment sales open.
That being said, Fincher was the king of music videos in the 90s. He is way overdue for an Oscar.

For me it’s Fincher. Nolan is a better overall creator but shooting a film, Fincher is better.
I can buy this argument. Nolan's sound mixing is awful

Fincher’s latest movies did nothing for me. Mank and The Killer sucked.
Fincher should have won the Oscar for Social Network. Instead the academy gave it to a movie - The King’s Speech - that nobody remembers and had no impact or legacy, and best director to Tom Hooper, the guy that would later go on to direct CATS. frick that guy, frick the king and frick those cats too.
