Not the GOAT, those already mentioned probably take that title but some others I thought were great: Raising Arizona, Cowboy vs Aliens, Scream, Point of No Return, and anything by or with Quentin Tarantino.

An old man walking through a graveyard in Normandy is the best opening scene ever?

My answer is the bank robbery in a The Dark Knight

Irreversible had a pretty memorable opening scene.

Exactly.

The first 30 minutes of SVP was the best film making ever and changed the way movies have been made since.

No Country for Old Men

Amazing opening scene. No music just Jones talking and some great shots.

You could argue that the "old man" scene flows into the beach aka making it one scene, if you insist they are separate the old man scene is still powerful as he falls to his knees next to his dead brothers

I was blown away with the Galactic Cruiser in the opening to Star Wars. At that time, it was movie making magic!
