I watched the first episone last night. And at the end Winters is looking out the plane and he is looking at hundreds of boats and planes heading to europe. I thought to myself, that must have been some awsome view. What would go through someones mind viewing that.
In the book (or at least one of Ambrose's books) he has interviews with French civilians on D-Day who looked out that morning and saw the armada. It's just so hard to imagine what they probably felt when they saw that.

Agreed.
I felt the same way with some of the scenes in Austria too.
And the view from Hitler's Eagle's Nest. How awesome would you feel if you were in Easy Company, and you had done so much to contribute to winning the war, and you reached the pinnacle of victory...and you stormed the Eagle's Nest, and looked out off that balcony.
I can't imagine how awesome that had to have been...both the view, and the feeling you had.

In the book they talk about some Private from Wyoming who still had Hitler's private photo album which he had looted from the Eagle's Nest. Unreal.

A few months ago i was watching Battle Fronts on the history channel. A german soilder who was stationed at Omaha beach, was talking about d-day. He said when he saw the ship coming in he knew the war was over.
