As soon as they mentioned Gold's name a few episodes back, I was jumping for joy. There was a nice little Green Arrow / Grundy storyline back in 2003.

This series is in full gear now. Kills me that we won't be seeing Barry until his series kicks off. Deathstroke looks bad-arse with that goatee and eyepatch. I'm thinking that Roy's powers will lead to him being Arsenal, as well as his famous drug addiction problems.

But man... that Flash origin couldn't have been better. Just amazingly perfect. Can't wait.

the show sets everything up so perfectly. its hard to even guess where this will be going. i wonder if slade will bring back huntress. i feel like another main character will not be making out this season.

also, i would rather them not show ra's this season and continue to have him lurking and plotting. keep in mind nightwing is supposed to be popping up at some point.

The one negative thing I will say about how they did Barry Allen is i didn't care for how whimsical his theme music was. It's a minor complaint but I didn't feel like his theme matches Arrow all that well. It almost has a Harry Potter vibe. It's not that I think his music sucked, just that it seemed a little off for how serious shite has gotten around Oliver and company.

*edit*. The more I think about it his music actually reminds me more of the Ubisoft game Rayman 2.

The producers were saying that they'd be adding villains and heroes to the Flash series as well, with the "hint of a major character" in the pilot.

From what their saying, it looks like they'll be going with the more fantastic science heroes and villains in Flash, and keep the more grounded ones in Arrow.

Cyrus Gold (in the comics) was a rich guy who was robbed and left for dead when he was thrown into a swamp. The swamp reanimated his corpse (sort of like Swamp Thing) and he emerged as the super-huge/super-strong Solomon Grundy (named after the nursery rhyme because the only thing that he could remember was that he was born on a Monday).

He was a villain for the original Green Lantern and eventually the rest of the DCU.

Cyrus Gold (on Arrow) has died after being injected with the Japanese super-soldier serum. We saw him doused with chemicals as he died, so hopefully he'll return as the zombie Solomon Grundy.

Don't get me started. It's as if Disney is embarrassed to have their SHIELD show associated with Marvel comics.

So do I. Agents of Shield needs to start pulling in some big guns from the comics for it to get interesting.

Is it just me, or is Arrow 100x better than Smallville? Don't get me wrong. I really liked Smallville, but Arrow just kicks all kinds of arse.

It's not just you. Smallville started out more as a soap opera and turned into something like Arrow though.

Arrow still does it better.

I really liked Smallville too, but Arrow is definitely better so far in just about everything such as fighting, storylines, plenty of episodes in Smallville just felt like filler at times, etc.

Although I still go with Erica Durance>>Felicity, but that's also kind of like arguing if you want a lamborghini or a ferrari.

smallville was the reason i didnt watch this show right away. smallville had soooo much filler and no drive.

arrow hits you right out of the gate and never stops. they develop each character perfectly. giving each one a story and motivation. its one of the best stories on tv hands down.

What? You get a reference to other Marvel characters like Tony Stark, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow etc in pretty much every episode. Extremis tech keeps popping up, Jasper Sitwell is running around, and they even did an origin story for Graviton.

Shield bores me to death. Not really sure Arrow could have done a better way with incorporating all the DC universe stuff that's available to them and I imagine it's only going to get more intriguing.

It's not just embracing the comic universe, I've never felt attached to any of the characters like I do Oliver, Slade, etc.

Yes, they're very good about talking about established characters. They have fifty years of stories and characters that they could bring in, but instead we get the occasional, "Hey, that guy's almost as big as Thor!" SHIELD is your basic USA or TNT procedural cop/spy show that looks into an X-File now and then. It has little to do with the Marvel Universe. We've done the super-soldier and extremis stories in the movies, move on to some new Marvel characters and stories.

Smallville had heart, but the actors (with the exception of Rosenbaum and Ma and Pa Kent) didn't have much talent. You basically cared about them because they were attractive, sweet kids with good intentions.

The actors in Arrow are still B-List, but they can carry the load well enough. The characters are better written than Smallville and SHEILD and it's much easier to care about these people. Diggle and Felicity especially.

Quirky computer experts are a dime a dozen on these shows so for Felicity to stand out is a pretty impressive feat. She's hot without being super-hot and she plays the social misfit fairly well.

I really don't give a shite about any of the people on SHIELD. They're a bunch of boring cyphers.
