So you want to go to a movie just to see how inaccurate it is? I bet you're just a bundle of fun!

saw it last night
despite the fact that I already knew (in detail) what was going to happen, I was still on edge watching it happen. That, in my opinion, is the mark of great "historical incident" filmmaking.

He was also a little upset that they downplayed his role so much. He was apparently more involved than the movie made if out to be.
Sorry if this sounds harsh against you. It's not meant to be:
The movie wasn't about the Canadian Ambassador, though, so he can shut his pie hole. It was, above all else, a movie about Tony Mendez, which is why it was as good as it was. If he tried to be historically accurate about everything, the movie would not have been as exciting and the audience wouldn't have been as invested. Plus, the star of the movie was Ben Affleck. You don't sideline the star for a supporting actor to be historically accurate.
SPOILER BELOW:
Which goes to the point another poster made about the chase scene at the end. To me, it was a bit much, but it didn't cross into cheesy. If they had scrambled jets, then yeah, it would have been ridiculous. I personally would have rather seen him shoot the door out, jump into a car, and watch as the jet took off before he could even turn the motor over. But that's just me. Maybe not even get that far.

All I know is that I was as stressed as I am watching an LSU football game . . . and I knew how the movie was going to end.

Oh I completely agree. I know why they did and am glad they did. I wasn't going to watch to the theater to watch a documentary. Someone was just asking how accurate the movie was.

Exactly. Just didn't want you to think I was being a dick. I agree with you.
