re: Anticipating the release of The Long Walk

A bunch of teenage boys are selected every year to begin walking from Maine without stopping. They stop or go too slow they get a strike, three strikes and they are shot dead by military dudes following in tanks. Last one left gets anything he wants for the rest of his life.

The story Dweezil told at one of his shows I saw was that, as a teenager, he was having difficulty learning how to play Eruption so Frank called EVH up and asked him to come over and teach it to Dweezil. He told the little story and then played Eruption followed by a few other Van Halen songs. Same show where Dweezil announced that his mother Gail was there. Turned out she was sitting in the seat in front of me.
