It was on TCM tonight. I'd never seen it and it had great reviews when it came out so I gave it a watch. I tried to like it, but it was just a mess of a movie. The animation is crude by today's standards, without the charm of some older animated films. None of the characters are relatable.

I only caught the last 30 minutes. Wish I had the seen the whole thing.

Seems kind of interesting as a vehicle for stringing popular music from different eras together, but that doesn't necessarily make for great storytelling.

But it's Ralph Bakshi.

People either love or hate this one. Not much middle ground if you read the reviews which were mostly terrible. I do like the ending with Night Moves. I think I only watched the whole thing once. Least favorite of his movies that i have seen.

I made my dad take me to a late night double feature of Wizards and Lord of the Rings at the Prytania Theater. I loved them both. My dad was snoring.

Bakshi has a certain style and once again most people either love it or hate it. As a kid I thought the rotoscoping was cool.

I still like Wizards but I haven't seen LOTR in a very long time. I know it wasn't a great adaptation but I had just read the books so it was cool to see. I do remember being grumpy when the movie ended at it wasn't complete.

I was at the Prytania that night for these movies as a teenager. Bakshi was a truly groundbraking animation director. It's unfair to compare it side by side with today's animated films.
