my thoughts on tonight was that Steven Tyler was funny. The southern girl from South Carolina was my favorite. She reminded me of Kelly Pickler. I think we should have one American Idol Thread each week, instead of a season long thread. And then whoever starts it, has to say American Idol -Week 1 or when it gets to themed weeks, the subject line would be "American Idol-Country week."

Well, steven Tyler was very "look at me" tonight. I see that becoming old pretty quick. I liked the south Carolina girl even though she kinda reminded me of Miley Cyrus. The refugee girl was my favorite chick and the mixed boy at the very end was my favorite guy.

These judges are way too soft. 51 people from one city? Hopefully they raise their standards as time goes on. New Orleans tonight, correct?

Here are some of the funnier quotes from me and from off the “Vote for the Worst” page after the first American Idol show in Jersey:
“Lopez will be remembered as the girl who can't say no (shouldn't be a surprise, right ?), but she's as zesty as a glass of tap water. And I know this is shallow, but I'm not going to be able to look at Tyler's face. With Michael Jackson gone, he is now officially the scariest-looking white male in America.”
About the girl with something by her eye, when I saw her I said “is it a teardrop, did she kill someone?” This is better: “I'm wondering if the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs first glanced off the corner of Rachel Zevita's eye.”
From the official review: “What’s with all of these “something bad happened but now we’re fine and nothing’s wrong” sob stories? “
“Travis Orlando is the last audition of the evening. Gangs, violence, living in a shelter, robberies, killings, sick dad... Travis is going for broke here with every sob story in the book. But he has something even worse to cry about: his lack of singing talent.”
I did think Tyler is better than Simon and Lopez is the best female on there, so it's a step up on a really crazy show. I saw zero talent though in that group, at least nothing to rant about.

The biggest difference being "he has been there,done that". The one constant complaint you would hear about Simon was always "what does he know about music?".
