I think Neri's loyalty to Michael is pretty unquestioned but the bigger question is who helped Fredo the night of the attempted hit on Michael?

Somebody had to leave the drapes open in the bedroom and kill the two gunman.More than likely it was Rocco...who later "volunteered" for the suicide mission to kill Hyman Roth.

Interesting, I just saw a video on a theory about this on youtube but I didn't click it. IIRC, in the book Rocco was a veteran like Michael with a leg injured in combat, but he was groomed by and under Clemenza, so I guess if he thought Michael had something to do with Clemenza's "arguably questionable death" (as many, not myself, think) then maybe it could have been him. I always thought it was Franky or something. The suicide mission scene depicted in the movie was an original idea from the GF2 screenplay and not from the book (unless the book came out after the movie), but I think that is supposed to mirror Jack Ruby hitting Oswald mixed with the real life Meyer Lanksy's return from Israel to the airport with the press everywhere around him. Sort of a spin on two real life things with a twist.

ETA: dammit Richard Harrow yes he might be the best. Jimmy himself was a very good RHM for a while.

I read another theory that pointed the finger at Connie (at least for opening the drapes and putting the kids drawing in a strategic location) They suggested she never forgave Mike for killing her worthless husband.
