Reading her Wiki, it reads like he wasn’t much involved in her life after he divorced her Mom at an early age.
Also get the impression from other interviews that her life was pretty chaotic from the get go.
Honestly just sad. Addiction is awful.

She was a Hollywood child. Of course she was groomed. Very often the mother helps to facilitate the grooming because her kid is her ticket into Hollywood life.
