Two weeks ago I was fortunate enough to catch a sneak preview of Act of Valor. While the movie isn't Citizen Kane, I highly HIGHLY recommend this movie to every red-blooded American. Without a doubt, this movie contains the most realistic and intense depictions of close-quarters battle (CQB) ever filmed. The SEALs who participated in the project clearly had a great deal of influence with the filmmakers. While the storyline is a little implausible (probably because they had to make it somewhat politically correct), it is a still a tight action thriller.

For the gentleman whose son is a SWCC operator - those guys are awesome! I had no idea the boats and crews could deploy so quickly, and the amount of firepower that comes off of a SWCC boat is just nasty. Please extend my sincere gratitude to your son and his teammates for their service and their general badass-ness!

One thing is for sure - the men of Naval Special Warfare will really, really appreciate this film, as it pays great homage to their sacrifice. Without getting into spoiler territory, the climax of the film closely mirrors a key event in the history of the SEALs which all Americans will appreciate. For sure, go out and see this film! I suspect Act of Valor will be one of those films that turns a ridiculous profit visa-vi its production budget and the theaters will be packed, especially after word of mouth gets around.

As awesome as that is, what's the point?

IMO if for no other reason to make the "sounds" of gunplay much more realistic. One thing I hate is the representation of gunfire in typical hollywood fashion. An AR15/M16/M4 is a loud son of a bitch. Very few movies capture this correctly.

"A big-screen recruitment film infused with a hero worship SEALs typically shun."

That about nails it

I don't mind watching a propaganda film if it involves the U.S. military.

What exactly am I in denial of? I was just pointing out that you were referring to a half arse indicator of this movie to support whatever hold up you have against it....no wait, you hate America. You're a terrorist.

in denial that the score will get better. Movies that open up on that site with that poor of a rating never do much better. They always stay low no matter the sample size.

No. I don't know what it will do. Like most people in this country, I haven't seen the movie yet. I can't really gauge where the vote will go. I'm indifferent.

I haven't seen the movie yet, so I really can't have an opinion on it. I just know that the trailer got me pretty amped, and I'm looking forward to seeing it. Go shite on somebody else's parade. And FWIW, that site has those tendencies because people like yourself like to go with what the crowd says because they are too narrow minded to make their own assessment. You strike me as a trend follower in this minute e-enconunter. 21 people have voted on it. The GD thing doesn't hit nationwide until tomorrow. The vast majority of the country has not seen this movie yet, so yeah a 21 person vote seems a little premature to me. Did I miss something?

You're still a fricking terrorist. America hates you.

Why are people getting offended that people think this movie looks terrible?

It's not like people are saying, "frick Navy SEALS and America!"

This movie absolutely will have horrible acting and be a waste of film if it's not an action scene. This is Hollywood cashing in on the OSB killing.

yes, what the actual reviewers are saying. Great action scenes, bad MOVIE. If you want to go see it, go. Even if you love it, don't expect the majority of america to agree with you.

That's why I used the word, minute.

You are overtrolling, and it's fricking annoying (so I guess you accomplished what you set out to do.)

Jesus, guy. The actual 21 reviewers that have reviewed it thus far have said it's not a good movie. I get that. No one in this thread has said anything to dispute that because WE HAVEN'T frickING SEEN IT. And I don't expect the majority of America to agree with me because the majority of America is by far and large ignorant.

On that note, I am going to see this movie. It may very well be a shitty arse movie, but I may very well enjoy my arse off watching really shitty acting coupled with some really badass action scenes.

Just got back from it. I consider it a theatrical documentary. The acting was terrible at times as was the plot. The film was more like a collection of individual missions, all separate from each other.

That being said the film seemed very authentic from the weapons, military technology, and especially the dialog. The mission scenes were fricking awesome, filled with special operation tactics and and a shitload of intensity. However, when the soldiers returned home in between the various missions the soldiers were forced to act which came off as very stale.

Pros> Cons. That was $9 well spent.

I told my son what you said and he said to tell you that he does not want any gratitude or appreciation. He wants you to get up off your lazy arse and do something.
