Season 3 is my favorite because that was the beginning of a 3 year run with the best writing (not that 1&2 are lacking at all), and duchovny and Anderson's on screen rapport started to develop...AAAAND, it was the last season with a limited budget and I just love the classic sci fi production values and aesthetic of it all...for season 5 they started filming in California and they just couldn't replicate that dim, spooky look...season 6 was still great, just saying I loved 3-6 the best with 3 being my favorite.

Season 3 of the X-files is probably my favorite season of any television show. It is just stuffed w/ awesome eps. The season starts w/ a great 1-2 punch after the cliffhanger from Season 2. Then you have comic gold like Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose, Jose Chung's From Outer Space, and War of the Coprophages. More good mythology eps, and the fantastic Pusher, one of the best MOTW eps.
The next two seasons are also absolutely top shelf. I think Season 5 was still in Vancouver and it wasn't until season 6 that they moved to Cali.

Slight hijack:
Some of you LSU old timers may remember Reggie; the LSU class registration system. We used to have to call in to a computer to register for our classes. This was an hours long process, as the line was continually busy.
The first time I watched an episode of X-Files was when I was registering for my spring classes my sophmore year. Fox was playing an X-Files marathon one cold Sunday. I sat in my apartment
*dial number
*busy signal
*Hang up
*hit redial
"Oh look its the Smoking Man"
*busy
*hang up
*redial
"This Scully chick is kind of hot"
*busy
*Hang up
*redial
"So is this an alien show or something?"

*hang up

I watched four hours of X-Files before the phone rang and I was able to schedule my classes.
