The Mariners really liked Montero and I think we should have tried to pry King Felix.
We did. We offered Montero/Betances/Banuelos and Seattle didn't even give a counteroffer for that.
If the Mariners wouldn't take that deal, they aren't going to take ANY deal out there.
the King isn't going anywhere, at least until he's in his last year of his contract. Hopefully the M's can score some more runs this year. They have several good young arms coming up so I like the trade. They needed a bat.

When I saw this trade I was surprised. Most teams overvalue their own prospects. I think it's a great trade for both teams.

After sleeping on it for a night, I feel much better for the Mariners. Nice to see some Yank fans are as disappointed as I am, sucks to trade the prospects you've been following for years after they finally made it.
Two years ago, Smoak, Montero, and Ackley all were top 15 prospects. Exciting to potentially have those 3 guys in the middle of the lineup for a while, even if Smoak and Montero aren't as highly regarded as they used to be.
Campos is still the hardest part of the trade to swallow as a Mariners fan. frick, I was excited about that kid after what he did this year. Having Paxton, Hultzen, and Taijuan mf'in Walker makes it a little easier though.

Mariners also have money to spend still and obviously aren't getting Fielder (never believed they would), wouldn't be surprised to see them interested in Edwin Jackson to replace Pineda.

Last year was his rookie year. The guy is 22. Think about that... 22. 6'7" 260.
He really that big? I thought he was a smallish guy?

Damn, just looked. Hadn't watched his highlights close enough obviously.
