So, you never buy beer or food at games? That sounds shitty if you're doing that 30-40x a year. Part of what makes baseball great is the relaxed atmosphere and kicking back with a couple of brews and a hot dog or burger.

You can find good arse seats in Yankee Stadium for cheap amounts on Stubhub. I sat 3rd base line lower level a couple seasons ago for like $35/piece.

Maybe they could "gasp" lower their ticket prices for once.

So after more than a year of planning, the Yankees rolled out a series of changes.

They removed 2,100 obstructed-view seats in center field over the winter, and created plazas — the kind of gathering spots in the outfield that have become popular at other ballparks. They have also made more than 200,000 tickets available for $15 or less, including the Pinstripe Pass, which comes with a drink (soda, water or beer) and park entry, but without a seat. They hired a new social media director to help better connect with young fans.

This is a pretty genius idea. Because you bet your arse if I don't have a seat, that means I'm finding one of the bars in the outfield to watch the game, and they'll clean out my wallet that way.

Thinking back, it makes sense. I went to a Yankees game in Rivera's last year against Baltimore. I got 200 level seats which is their plaza level just past 3rd base for $15, which I thought was a ridiculous good deal. I think I only paid $20 per seat for similar seats against Boston in 2014 for a weekend series and remember the stadium not being as full as I expected.

I went to a Cardinals-Yankees game a month or so ago. Tickets were $120 for lower level behind the dugout.

Yankee Stadium had an extremely corporate feel to it. Concession prices were about 30-40% higher than St. Louis/Philly/Atlanta, the other parks I have seen games this season. Was also weird. The stadium emptied out in the 8th inning (close game) because people didn't want to have to wait forever in a line to get on the Subway

Love NYC. Have no desire to see another game there though.

I went to my first MLB game in 20+ years last year in StL. It was a cool experience watching a game in Busch Stadium, but I wouldn't fork out the $150 or so that I paid for two people to attend. Just not worth it to me. I'd happily spend that on a NFL game because you only get 8 of those a year. 80 games at those prices just isn't happening. I couldn't imagine wanting to be a season ticket holder for a MLB team unless I was a business owner and needed them for the sales team.

On rare occasion I will. I usually meet a buddy at a restaurant/bar before the game. Eat and drink there watching football. Or playing arcade games. Then head over to the game. One of us is traveling, so it saves us fuel and parking taking just one vehicle to the game. And I like helping the local businesses out too. Outside The Lines a few years ago aired deplorable footage of the lack of concern over food and drink safety conditions at MLB stadiums, so after that I'd just rather eat and drink before the game.
