Think he used to rock a pretty serious ponytail.

Moneymaker is a one off champ.

I was watching when he won. Have always remembered him and they talked about and showed him in this tournament.

Your memory is getting bad. JC Tran. Johnny Chan. But all them Asians look alike. ;)

I was wondering if I was spelling Ngyuen correctly. I even know some Ngyuen's but usually don't spell their name correctly. I work with and know some Tran also. I was going straight off memory and thought I was doing a good job remembering first AND last names and hopefully spelling them correctly. I am so ashamed.

Most if not all of my exposure to poker besides playing with friends on weekends has been the WSOP. Still watch some of the final tables on the Fox sports networks but don't know any of the new players and don't remember them from one tournament to the next.

You seem to know more of the tournament names.

If they aren't on TV playing in a tournament I have no idea they exist. I remember a colorful older foreign guy from recent years playing in the Main Event - I think. He always wore colorful suits, a hat and always talked about his wife. He didn't win but that is probably the most recent player I even remember besides the ones from this tournament.

Btw, used to play against Hellmuth freshmen year of college. Dad was a prof at Madison.

Yeah, if you played with Hellmuth and Brunson you are way, way beyond me. I play with Katrina, Cormier, Weng and a few other people you will never know of. We get together once a month and play and get cabins at Toledo Bend once a year and have a tournament while we are there. $10 or $20 entry fee pays top 2 - nothing serious. We mostly do it just to get together and drink.

He is referring, I think, to Dario Minieri. Italian.

Don’t know what he is doing now

I thought I saw that name in this tournament but it may have been another Dario.

I did a google search - copied my description of him and added "poker player" at the end and he came up.

John Hesp from the 2017 main event. Very personable guy. Everyone seemed to like him so much I thought they would bring him back the next year as an announcer:

Hellmuth was in my bud’s dorm. It isn’t like we hang now.

Brunson: it was a one off. I was in Vegas. He came to our table.

If you are in Vegas and playjng at any the good rooms on the strip you are gonna run into pros.

And, I’m not playing high stakes. Sit down with maybe 1k.

I play a bunch. Usually 2-200 or 2-300 spread.

I’ve played against a bunch of pros. Especially at charity tournaments. Aces and bases in Scottsdale. Tom “donkey bomber” Schneider is always in that one. As is Kelly Minkin.

This guy has it all. Ophthalmologist ans pro.

Now sweating Dempsey and Lewis since they're American baws which is good for the game and then Ensan since he seems like a legit good dude.

seriously dude?

Why you got to mention the guy I said I was pulling for? I was kind of joking about how you have jinxed all the players you have mentioned or said would win.

You sound upset.

If youre ever in the Little Rock area let me know. Can get you in to a couple underground games.

NOPE.

Someone would be pissed because they would think I was feeding the person after me. They would probably be correct in their assumption. I am an amateur.

Definitely suggest checking out the new Oaklawn expansion when its complete in September. Everyone playing 1/2 are amateurs. Anyone who isnt moves up to 2/5 pretty quickly.

Hopefully the games will be good. They should be initially. Do you play live at all?

With friends that I have been playing with for years. Sometimes we will have new people but they don't seem to last very long. It's not because we are so good.
