Admins can we move this to the Gaming Board or the O-T Lounge? Poker isn't a sport, and this is the More Sports Board.

November 7-10,2009 TBD FINAL TABLE
Why are they taking an almost 4 month break?
Posted on 7/16/09 at 4:21 am to ike221
ESPN wants to televise the whole main event and will televise the final table a day after it is played.

Billy Kopp
Good game buddy!
This is the hand of the tournament to this point. Some people were saying it was terrible, awful etc which can definitely be argued. But there is 1 thing you can say about Billy Kopp, the dude has some BIG BALLS to jam his stack in there. I'm talking about so big they drag the ground. Rather the play was good/bad/marginal or in between, Kopp was playing to WIN on the biggest stage in poker. He was basically guranteed well over a million if he just tightened up and played top 5% hands. He didnt do that, instead he stuck to his guns and his game which is play to win. If you are playing to win then jamming there was the only play. He wasnt interested in moving up a pay jump or making the november nine. He was only interested in the 8+ million and the win and on this stage, that is admirable. Just remember when discussing this hand, rather it was good or bad, you first have to ask the question: Are you playing to make the final table or you playing to win the whole damn thing?
But make no bones about it, im a bitch and I fold. LOL

I wanna see ESPN broadcast it live
even if that means getting rid of Norman for those segments
Posted on 7/16/09 at 11:06 am to gizmoflak
the problem with live is you don't get to see the cards so you don't get to see how they play a draws or over pairs or anything like that.
if it's streaming online again i'll watch it online again.

I gotta think they'll work out the logistics for live w/ showing holecards in the near future
Imagine running a huge bluff knowing that millions watching know your cards

Realistically, how short of a delay can you do to be able to show the players' hole cards (technologically getting it from the camera at the table to TV) but not provide information to the players at the table?
10 hands? 15 hands?

10 hands? 15 hands?
10 millseconds
no communication devices allowed in the audience
cameras controlled remotely
announcers/commentators in another room
It can be done ... might be weird/uncomfortable at first ... but it's gonna happen sooner or later for a big tourney

New to this thred, but I don't think they want to show every hand being played. So that's the only reason it's delayed a day

which is why they'd stream it on the web instead of take up TV airtime for it

Yeah, 360 was made for stuff like this, you'd think.

There is no sort of delay in the broadcast that would allow them to show hole cards until the tournement is completely over. It would give an unfair advantage knowing what so and so had on a particular hand before the final table is over.
They could however stream live without hole cards which is what they have done for the other final tables.

Who would it give an unfair advantage to if nobody at the table knows?
