i don't hate him, actually...seems like a pretty good guy.
one guy that i like to follow is JC Tran, dude's very underrated and i think is doing pretty well in the 1k NLHE event.
played with both these guys IRL.
JC is an absolute stud. I wrote a blog in 07 about the table I played with him. I'll c&p below if anyone wants to read it.
Greg at the 2007 ME on day 1. Super nice guy, really talkative at your table. Seems really down to earth. He did get knocked out within two hours though with some pretty awful play
(have a blog about this also but it's pretty long)

Event 40 1500 Limit/NL and a cash game tale
Well to start I played in the 1500 Limit/NL tournament which I thought was going well for me until I was sent to a table which fielded a murders row of poker players. With the chip average at about 7,000 my table was as follows:
Seat 1 - Paul Darden 10,000 chips
Seat 2 - me 13,000
Seat 3 - Lee Watkins 8,000 chips
Seat 4 - J.C. Tran 40,000 chips
Seat 5 - David Skalanski about the same as J.C. but I can't remember the exact chip count
Seat 6 - Phil Gordon 13,000 chips
Seat 7 - Jeff Lisandro around 15,000 chips
Seat 8 - Alex Brenes (Humberto's brother) 10,000 chips
Seat 9 - amateur 6,000 chips
Seat 10 - Randy Jensen 30,000 chips
It was impossible to play with this table and their chip count in the NL level so I had to pick my spots carefully and really try to make some scores in limit which I did. The hand I went out on went like this. With blinds at 200-300 (I know it's wierd but those were the blinds) and sitting at around 12,000 there are four limpers at 300. With one hundred more for me to call I look down at AK of Diamonds. I make it 1500 to go which is about the size of the pot. lee folds, JC Folds, Gordon folds around to Randy Jensen who had been playing ultra aggressive. He makes it another 2500 on top. Now if I called and missed I am left with 9,000 which is still a good stack but he is one spot to the right of the button and he limped after three other players limped. To me that screams 33 or some other small pocket pair. I dont want to call and miss and even if I hit my K or Ace if he does have what I put him on I am only going to win what is in the middle already so I use a max force approach and push all in. He cannot call quick enought with AA. He limped with 3 limpers already which I thought was a bad play that really worked out for him because Paul had not been getting friskey on his button, I had not been getting wild and neither had Lee. He got very lucky that I happened to pick up a big hand and he was paid off. So that was it and I was out in around 100 when top 67 made the money. I decided after three tournaments that I needed to replinnish my bankroll before I played anymore so I was going to just play 5-10 NL for a little while. I won 3600 my first time out at the Wynn and was back to about even for the trip. I had won in three out of three sessions before that so the 3600 helped. The next few days did not go as well. I lost 1200 one night before getting sucker punched the very next night. I went up to the game with 1400 which I was actually understacked but I was ok. I grinded for a little while picking up a few pots here and there getting me up to about 2300 when I got kicked in the nuts by the deck. With no max buy in and 10 dollar chips the action is pretty loose. On the button I look down at 9-10 of hearts and raise to 60 with3 limpers before me. I get two callers. The flop comes 9JJ rainbow. Both check to me, I bet 200 and get one call. The turn is a 4 and again I get checked to by a guy who was running over the game pretty bad. I am about 99% certain my 9's are good and make a value bet of 250 to which he says, "How much do you have behind?" I have 1800 left after starting the hand with 2300. He has about 5,000 and says ok i'll put you all in. An 1800 dollar raise. I look him up and ask him a few questions and watch and after all the pieces come together I tell "you are not going to bully me the way he has everyone else, I call". He shakes his head after the 2 on the river to say, "I think I caught ya on the river" as he flips over 22. I lose a 4700 dollar pot because of a 2 outer on the river. That was a fun one to take. I made about 2,000 tonight after catching a few big hands but above all else I played really well. I am down a few hundred for the trip overall if you do not count the 10K for the Main event, which btw I am playing on day 1C Sunday the 8th. I may play in the thousand dollar shoe event tomorow night at 5 but if I don't then I am done until the ME. I'll keep everyone posted after my first day of the Main in a blog and try to keep up with it for however long I last which hopefully will end with a very posative ending to this whole WSOP story. later all

Thats rough I had the same thing happen to me in a 200 dollar sit n go 4 handed when I was 2nd in chips vs the chipleader who called me all in preflop with the 2s and I had 7s and he spiked it on the river. what pissed me off was he said "I guess I wont be chipleader after this call"

The "S" in "MSB" stands for "Sports". Thus, only sports can be discussed here.
Thus proclaim the MSB Gawds.

I like Raymer as a player fwiw. Ever since Arieh told Williams to "knock that fricker out" i've hated his arse.
I hope Daniel can win one or a few. My fav player by far.

Which WSOP player can play a real sport, and which sports could they play?

started with around 1000
at that point I think we had about 200 left. Blind structure gave a lot of play since the field dwindled pretty quick. Jensen actually made a smart arse comment to Lee after he busted me. When the river hit he said "thanks for the free chips". I just looked at him and shook my head cause his play was god awful but it worked out. He found me in the cash games on their next break and appologized.

There are quite a few full time pro poker players now who were ex atheletes fwiw. Orel Hershiser is one off the top of my head. There really is a shite load, I just can't think of them off hand.

If I did, it will be for the ME only. I've gone out there for the whole time the last 3 years and got burnt out every time. Played the ME the last two years which is a lot of fun so I would like to do that but the grind for 3 months is exhausting. My fiance and I are also in the process of moving from BR to Houston so I wouldn't have time to go for anything but the later events.
