That pick just wowed me last night.

WR is obviously a position of desperate need since pretty much all your other ones left.

Kelvin Benjamin is 6'5 243, for some reason I just don't see him working out in the NFL but to be fair, I could see why they went his way, maybe because he offers a bigger target for Cam but if you want a QB to be successful then you need to weapons around him.

Why didn't they pull they pull the trigger on Lee or Matthews? Both were clearly better than Benjamin IMO, although you may look at this past season's stats and say different.

Lee: '13 57 catches for 791 yards and 4 touchdowns. Averaged 13.9 yards per catch
'12 118 catches for 1721 yards and 14 touchdowns. Averaged 14.6 yards per catch
'11 73 catches for 1143 yards and 11 touchdowns. Averaged 15.7 yards per catch

Matthews: '13 112 catches for 1477 and 7 touchdowns. Averaged 13.2 yards per catch
'12 94 catches for 1323 and 8 touchdowns. Averaged 14.1 yards per catch
'11 41 catches for 778 yards and 5 touchdowns. Averaged 19.0 yards per catch

Benjamin: '13 54 catches for 1011 yards and 15 touchdowns. Averaged 18.7 yards per catch
'12 30 catches for 495 yards and 4 touchdowns. Averaged 16.5 yards per catch

Lee: 6'0 195
Matthews: 6'3 212

I think by the Saints, Panthers and Bucs all taking a WR in the first round should make the south even more interesting, but I still got Saints taking the division. Especially if they can get a guy like Pierre Desir in one of the following rounds.

Would you have taken Benjamin over both Lee and Matthews considering you were in the Panthers' situation? I sure as hell wouldn't have and the pick really confused me.

ESPN GO for the stats.

That's all they needed to see.

Love the breakdown brotha

Benjamin is a project. He would have been a good pick if Steve Smith was still there. I dont see where Carolina is going with this now though.

Lee would have been the better pick, I think Lee will be a monster in the NFL.

It's a bigger target for Cam to throw to.

His production was down last season because USC was fricking terrible. Check his stats from the year before when he had a decent QB.

Benjamin is still developing. He will be like Calvin Johnson.

It was a ceiling pick. Benjamin has a higher ceiling than Matthews or Lee due to his size and certain flashes of greatness. I wouldve picked lee though assuming medical check came out good.

I would tend to believe that Carolina is planning on using him mostly him in the redzone. He has the size to iso him on a smaller corner and win the jump ball.

I think Benjamin will be a lot better than the MSB experts believe. After the top 3-4 WR in the draft there's not a whole lot of seperation between the next 6-7. Stop buying into the Mock Draft hype. NFL GMs pay no attention to Kiper, McShay ect.

Keep in mind that Kelvin had the best QB in college football throwing it to him last year. Who did Lee have? A turd in a system that didn't get going until pretty much too late. About Mid season

Not even close. Dont speak of that name with that Kid. Benjamin is closer of a comparison to Mike Williams at USC. It will only take a couple of weeks for this kid to look like a TE or LT. Hes already a little over weight...I dont see this kid panning out well .

Exactly.

Lee is the better player here. Carolina sucks and imploded their offense. They continue to hold onto both RBs and they are both aging and banged up all the time. I see Benjamin being a big flop.

Yeah but you can easily get you a tight end and split him out wide and do that. Why pass on Lee's talent for a person who is yes, still developing, but being called lazy, isn't particularly fast but that's what you expect for his size, and doesn't even that much of a vertical, but a better wingspan?

Matthews is my favorite WR in the 2nd round range.

His ceiling may not be quite as high, but his intangibles are far superior to Lee and Benjamin, IMO.

It's not like Carolina won't draft another WR as deep as the draft is at that position they could grab another starter in a later round

You can say the same thing about Juice. I think he'll be gone pretty quickly tonight.
