Sorry but he killed someone. The only difference would of been the years he would of spent in prison.
I think most people would find a big difference in character btw one person who intentionally took the life of another and someone whose reckless disregard for the law resulted in the loss of another's life.
Tends to be the reason why we have a manslaughter charge instead of just charging everyone with murder.

Would the mans family have been better off with the money and Stallworth doing 30 days, or Stallworth doing 5 years and no money?

He would of done 15+ years.

Why does it upset you that people think Ben did that shite? Should try to not worry about the court of public opinion, you can't change it.
Why does it upset you that people think he's innocent? It's a freaking message board! People express their opinions. That's how it works.

max in florida for DUI mansluaghter is 15 years.
Hard to believe that someone with no priors, and as far as I remember not even one previous DUI conviction would have gotten the maximum, regardless of how much money they had.

or a poor family with a widow who didn't know how she was going to feed her children?
Not like they paid Donte to kill the man.

Vince Young has done all the right things after the fight. He apologized to his teammates and to the Titans fans. He admitted what he did was wrong. He doesn't deserve a suspension.

so as long as you "apologize" you shouldn't be punished?

Should have said it better in my first post. Vince seems to be owning up to what he did. He is accepting full responsibility. He isn't a repeat trouble maker with the law and from all accounts is a good citizen. I say this is his get out of jail free card. If he does something like this again, then a suspension is warranted.

Fellas, we haven't HEARD what happened....we SAW what happened.....I have a feeling once we hear what was said, this whole deal will be a non-issue....I really doubt what we saw made Vince go off like he did.....Dude said something out of pocket......

Drunk people can't give their consent. Ben got off, plain and simple.

I think you're right - but I also think we are way too cavalier about drinking and driving. It can be fairly argued that drinking and driving is maybe the most serious offense that the US legal system gives people way too much of a free pass on
Because people did make a decision to drive when they were impaired (I feel this way for people that had more than 1-2 beers anway) - guys who have 8 or 10 and then step behind the wheel are really behaving incredibly and intentionally recklessly in a way that puts other people's lives at risk

Anyway, in a small way this demonstrates IMO what kind of can of worms Goddell opened up with the Big Ben case.
If he had just stuck with suspending players who were convicted of serious crimes or who admitted fault with serious crimes then he'd have a NFL policy where the legal system had to sort through the hardest judgments for him. Now he's stuck making calls where there won't be a clear cut right answer about to do.

The guy disrespected Vince by dissing UT.lol. Come on now you can't diss a brothas school and expect to walk away. Vince had to represent in front of his boys.
In other words another case of "When keepin it real goes wrong."

It could be argued that way only if the system gave a free pass which it doesn't

lots of people get away with essentially no punishment after they drink and drive

hen he'd have a NFL policy where the legal system had to sort through the hardest judgments for him
which isn't any policy at all. It's the legal process.
The legal system is not concerned with actions that may be detrimental to the league's image, which is more what the commish is concerned with.
Sitting back and letting the legal system protect the league's image didn't work.
Jones, Henry, etc were all subject to multiple investigations, trials, convictions, but were still legally able to play football. shite Jones didn't get his first felony conviction till AFTER being suspended by the league. Something had to be done, and he did it.
Goodell opened the "can of worms" the day he got his conduct policy passed.
