How long is the 4-team playoff contract for? They should have allowed for expansion after year 1 but I don't think they did.

12 years. They did this so there would NOT be expansion after just a couple of years.

I don't really care as long as we at least have a 4 team playoff.

That in itself is a victory but I would love to see 8 schools in a playoff.

As soon as they put in wild cards, they guaranteed expansion. Playoffs expand, and the vehicle by which they expand is the wild card.

there is no rational objection to expansion once you let in wild card teams. It's just a matter of how many. And there can always be one more.

Take this season. Say Missou beats Auburn. By virtue of the rankings, Bama would've hosted a playoff game for getting to sit at home while Missou was beating the team that sent Bama there.

Thats not fair.
Your argument is neither fair nor correct. Missouri would have been ranked ahead of Alabama had they beaten Auburn, and Alabama did not sit at home the entire season.

Also, Missouri and Auburn played each other because they themselves agreed to a conference structure that pitted them against each other while Alabama sat at home. It is completely fair.

What isn't fair (or possible, or well thought-out, or a good idea at all) is putting emphasis on winning your conference when a) not every team is in a conference b) not every conference is equal and c) there are more conferences than there are playoff teams.

I do, and I don't think it will take too long to expand to 8 teams. Hell people bitch about it only being 4 teams already.

Personally I didn't think we needed to move to a playoff at all and would like to limit the amount of teams involved as much as possible.

Disagree, we needed some verification on whose the best team. Every sport on earth has a playoff except college football.

IMO that's what the regular season is for, not getting hot at the right time. I just don't feel that just because the NFL does it that means CFB needs to look the same.

I just really like how much each regular season game means. Next year the Bama/AU game would have meant didly poo (in the words of Jim Mora).

I believe it's for about 12 years or so. But playoffs will be so successful it won't last near that long
