In a series of interviews with The New York Times this weekend, Heimlich flatly denied committing the crime he had admitted to, saying he pleaded guilty to quickly dispense with the case and for the sake of family relations.
“Nothing ever happened,” he said, when asked for specifics about what might have occurred between him and his niece.

He's definitely trying to do some damage control after going undrafted last year

I will say there is more to the story than simply reported at first.
I am somewhat embarrassed how pitchforky I was last year
Shame on me

Well that bombshell being dropped right before the draft last year was killer.
He's maintaining his innocence but the victim's mom seems convinced that he's a piece of shite.

What all is the "more to this story"?
Besides his own denial of it happening

Don't quote me but I believe it had something to do with it being better for him to plead guilty at his age. or the safer option

Yeah, plea deals are usually better in regards to minimizing punishment. I don't doubt at all that he was pressured in to taking it. However, that doesn't convince me that he's innocent.

I always thought by the way it was reported he truly admitted guilt and everyone accepted it. That is how the media made it seem
I had no clue he maintained his innocence to today, through all his counseling he maintained he didnt do it, and his parents, also the girls grandparents, maintain he didnt do it and they listend to their lawyers
And the fact the case was brought about because the ex wife of Heimlichs brother was the one that pushed it

His story is that he pled guilty to avoid serving time in juvenile detention. I believe he was looking at 40 weeks iirc, which is honestly amazing that's all he would have had to serve considering the charges.

I just don't know how a kid would make this up:
quote:
According to court records, the newspaper said, she told investigators that she was in Heimlich’s bedroom at his home south of Seattle when he pulled her underwear down and “touched her on both the inside and outside.” The Oregonian quoted the documents as saying, “She told him to stop, but he wouldn’t.”

I am not saying I am convinced he is innocent, I am saying this is not cut and dry like first reported.....

The girl told investigators that inside Heimlich’s bedroom, he pulled down her underwear and “touched her on both the inside and outside of the spot she uses to go to the bathroom,” according to court records.
“She said that she told him to stop, but he wouldn’t,” the documents state, and that “it hurt” when he touched her.
Tough to live that down.

Unless Oregon has some weird laws as it pertains to juveniles, this is not true

I don't recall the details on this one at all.
