NFL was very uncreative back in the ‘70’s and the small all purpose back which is so popular now wasn’t a schematic.
It was power football with a two back set. Today he’d be a hell of a weapon in a hybrid run pass combination roll.
ironically the "West Coast" Offense actually started in Cincinnati but Bill Walsh left after the 75 season the same year they drafted Griffin. In 75 Boobie (huh huh huh Butthead voicer) Clark was the #2 rec with 42 receptions and Essex Johnson caught 25, the next year Clark had 23 and L Elliot 22.

Fact is that the heisman was never about the best player in college football. It’s always been about a media market team and a player that stood out.
Example, in 2011 Honey badger deserved it.
rather curious how Baylor is bigger media market and brand
its an offensive player award in the past it was running backs now its mostly QBs

It’s hard to take it seriously as a barometer for success at the next level in all honesty.
good thing success at the next level was not the point. However when Charles Woodson is voted on the HOF in a couple of months that will make 10 Hall of Famers that won the Heisman, and scores of others had really good careers and the 2019 MVP and rookie of the year won it as did the current rushing leader.

Running backs routinely led the League in receptions in the 70's:
74- Lydell Mitchell routinely caught 60/ 70 in 14 games
75- Chuck Foreman & Mitchell were #1 & 2
76- Lane was #1. 4 of 6 top Receivers were runningbacks
77-Mitchell
78- Ricky Young & Galbreath 1 & 2
79- Joe Washington ( similar sized back led the League with 88 receptions & a Pro Bowl)
1970's Scheme doesnt seem to be the issue.

No he wasn't. When the voting took place he had 1986 rushing yards. Leonard finished with 1953, and that's including the 212 he ran for against Texas Tech in the bowl game. Henry finished with 2219.
Why do you post lies?

Bill Walsh left the year they draft Griffin and the catches by the RB's dropped the next year

Fournette had 2 fewer games so he had more yard per game, he did not deserve the Heisman (CMac did), though i think he should have gotten an invite

oh yes what a scrub for not having a good game agains the #1 rushing defense especially in such creative offensive scheme
The best rush defense Henry faced was #11 Arkansas he was 27-95, Fournette against Ark was 19-91. Ole was #23 rsuh defense Henry 23-127 Fournette 25-108. Another common opponet was Auburn. Fournette 19-228, Henry 45-271 26 more carries for 43 more yards
Henry did also go over 200 vs MSU and A&M, Fournette in the 150s for both.

FIFY. Peyton "0-and-4 vs Florida" Manning got exactly what he deserved.

He didn’t start against them his freshman year so it’s 0-3 as a starter 0-2 at the Swamp where Florida did not lose to anyone those 3 years. But good to know the Heisman should be based on petty dislike rather than on the field play

So now you are making excuses.... I don't care if LF had more YPG.... in the GAME that mattered most he failed......
Thats what voters look at..... I the mid 70's OSU was on top of the polls the whole year and had a huge game against Michigan at the end of the year in the fact that the game meant a trip to the Rose bowl..... A marquee matchup that Archie stepped up for... Henry won the trophy the night he gashed LSU for over 200 yards in Primetime against the # 2 team.......
