The bottom line is that if you are 21 or older than you are given the privledge to drink if you so choose. With this privledge comes the responsibility of knowing the law. If you are above the legal limit whatsoever and you choose to still get behind the wheel, you are breaking the law and you will pay the consequences. The law is in place to prevent people from doing stupid things and endangering themselves and others. If people would just follow the law and put down the freaking keys when above the legal limit, then everything would be fine. But if someone gets behind the wheel above the legal limit, they are a speeding bullet that is just looking for a target to strike. It is a wonderful thing that people like this could spend up to 15 plus years in prison, because they are off the streets and no longer a danger to the public. Say what you want about the laws and how you don't agree with them; but at the end of the day, I hope and pray that people who choose to ignore the law will spent everyday of their freaking life in a prison cell until they are no longer a cancer to humanity.

Sadly, that just not true, repeating a lie doesn't make it so.
Get off your high horse, I'm not say DWI is good, but the fact is most fatal accidents are caused by the .15-.20 driver. Wasting your time throwing the book at .08 or even worse .05 drivers takes resources away from catching the more dangerous drivers. Law enforcement budgets aren't unlimited even in Obama land. There are other crimes. So go after the hard core drunks and multiple offenders, ticket the and put the fear of god in tipsy drivers and tell kids the truth, its bad and something they should not do, but don't lie to them.

Zero tolerance would be such a strain on the legal system that I doubt it goes anywahere, maybe to .05, but that doesn't mean that we can't have different levels of fine and punishment for different levels of BAC.
I agree. And there is a huge fricking difference in a guy who has a few beers and isn't impaired and ends up getting hit by someone else or running over a psycho trying to cross 6 lanes of traffic, than a dude who can't see straight and takes out a whole family in the other lane...........but there is still gonna be fricktards like this clown above me screaming for 15 years for the guy who didn't do shite except get struck by lighting after he happened to have 2 beers.

Kids need to have the fear of God put in them about the dangers of alcohol, because if they don't, they could end up dead. Kids need to understand that alcohol isn't something that you can play around with. If they are not taught these things, than they end up like the freaking nuts cases on here who think that getting behind the wheel after a few drinks is perfectly ok. If you get behind the wheel above the legal limit, you are clearly looking to kill yourself or another innocent human and that is it. There is a reason that we are instructed to drink with moderation; when you get above the legal limit, you are a danger of doing foolish things like getting behind the wheel and taking a life. People who decide to break the law and do these things anyway should locked up and if they are not locked up, they are better off dead because alcohol is a one lane highway that leads to nowhere but death.

Well thats just it... even if you drink UNDER what is considered moderation you are still above 'the legal limit'.

This kind of shite can happen to any of us. Go out to eat, have literally a couple of beers with your meal and hit an idiot running across the interstate and all of a sudden your arse is in jail.
Sure, but .14 is not "a couple of beers." It's pretty drunk for 7 a.m. I've driven .14 many times, but if I'd have hit somebody it would have been my fault, not just "bad luck."

Even if you were driving on I-10, and some idiot runs out in front of you?

The whole story reminds of me of the drunken driver who crashed his truck into a neighbor's house only to reveal a marijuana farm. LINK Yeah he was breaking the law, but damn... thats bad luck (I'm obviously referring to the pot grower, not the drunken a-hole who can't stay on the road).

yeah, no shite, the owner of the pot farm had to be going like WTF, now he's in jail also, along with the a-hole that ran off the road. but to do away with alcohol drinking period like this ALLDAY character is suggesting is takin things a lil too far, it will never happen.

Yeah he's pretty hardcore. We'll see how his views on 'alcohol' change when he's 21.
FWIW, when I was a teen I was one of the 'straight edge' kids. All that changed once I got to college.

we are all going to end up dead chief, why not have some fun while we are here.
But using your logic we should make kids fear taking a shower, because the could end up dead if they slip and fall or they should fear eating since they could choke, and on and on.

haven't read this all, but Vick's was a intentional action he made and was involved in without impairment.
Stallworth's was impaired; yes his own decision caused this but it was not the plan when he went drinking.
yes Donte seems guilty and should get whatever punishment he deserves.
