re: Why don't the Bengals cut ties with Shemir Stewart and just sign Hendrickson to a deal?

do you seriously not grasp how and why ambiguous clauses in a contract, especially one that has consequences in the tens of millions of dollars, are probably terms you are going to advise your client against signing?
If you had faith in yourself or your client to not do stupid shite then it shouldn’t be a problem. He and his camp are ADMITTING that they don’t have that confidence.
quote:
Now I want you to define what "stupid shite" is.
This list is endless. Feel feee to give some of these highly ambiguous examples that y’all keep talking about. Mingo gave two that are very stupid things for a player to publicly say. You have anymore?
quote:
he could get suspended for a late hit,
I was waiting for the REALLY dumb examples to start popping up. Thank you lol
quote:
There are ways to fix these ambiguities by actually defining what "conduct detrimental to the team" means in the context of that provision. But it appears the Bengals aren't interested in getting a deal done.
Stewart’s camp don’t want that. They want nothing new added in.

There’s already a player conduct policy
And of course they don’t, for several reasons, nor does the Players Associate. If Stewart agrees to that provision it gives the owners leverage to require it from other players. Of which his agents represent some of those and all are obviously members of the players association.

you most certainly did.
Well. I didn’t. Like I said, feel free to clarify your original question and I’ll gladly answer it. Becuase what you originally asked is nowhere close to this without clarification.

based off of the opinions you have shared wouldnt bode well.
So is it stuff he said in the past or is it stuff he says after the contract is signed? Because the clause doesn’t say “comments already made”
Posted on 7/24/25 at 2:27 pm to Mingo Was His NameO
quote:
No
Well yea. If you don’t think he should be able to say stupid shite them this isn’t a problem lol

So now a bunch of people don’t have faith that a bunch of players can just shut up and play ball
I’m still amazed that people have such a hard time understanding why it is so hard for sports players to just play their sport lol
Posted on 7/24/25 at 2:30 pm to Mingo Was His NameO
So the hold up is that they do have confidence that he won’t say stupid shite going forward but they are worried about what he said in the past? These goal posts are underwater by now lol

lol man
its worded in such a way that THIS EXAMPLE could be construed as a reason to void his money.
forget political shite for a sec. lets say the guy has a fight with his gold digger gf and the texts get leaked where he calls her a dumb bitch.
lets say he gets suspended for an on the field fight.
lets say he gets photographed naked on a yacht
the point being, the clause shouldnt be there because it isnt there for anyone else. the scenarios are pointless when you realize its not being asked of anyone else.
you say he should keep his head down and work and there wont be a problem with the clause. i say the clause shouldnt be there at all. only one of us is bein a fig about it and it aint me.

An attorney wouldn’t allow Tim Tebow or Phillip Rivers to sign this contract

As a professional athlete in today’s world, this is a REALLY dumb thing to do. ESPECIALLY with a gold digger gf that will be looking for any reason to make him look bad. What a dumb example lol

Fighting at your job ISNT a stupid thing to do? Ok lol
quote:

This one is a decent example. I doubt the team would really care about that. But you should know better as a public figure than to do stuff like that when everyone has a camera looking to make famous people look bad.

If they had faith that he could control himself and not do stupid shite then this doesn’t matter. They clearly do not.

What’s so hard about that?

Those players might though

ya cause only millionaires get caught up with the wrong woman right?

fights happen in sports, any of those players losing millions for it?

they might care if they could use it to save millions
^this is the part to really remember here. youre being purposefully obtuse if you continue to ignore it.

or theyve got a way to backdoor not paying a player cause the budgets real tight

take the clause out and see if he doesnt do that anyway

Wut lol
Do you NOT think that’s a stupid thing to do for a pro athlete?
quote:

No because it’s not in anyone’s contract yet. But it might be soon.
quote:
they might care if they could use it to save millions
And completely ruin their franchise going forward? Ok sure.
quote:
take the clause out and see if he doesnt do that anyway
He very well might. That’s not the point.
You’re even more confused than some of the others lol

i think men pay for their choice in women in plenty of ways. dont need it affecting my job as well.

But it might be soon
no chance. while the leagues official position may be they dont tolerate it, they dont exactly hate the surge in viewership fights get them.
quote:

its the fricking bengals. theyre poor as frick and at the bottom of player surveys consistently so public opinion matters little. think they wouldnt use the millions they saved to pay other players?
quote:

the only thing im confused about is why youre arguing for a clause you yourself admit you wouldnt sign lol

yeah, that's the point, bud. The list is endless and completely open to interpretation. Hence, why the clause needs to be amended

It's not dumb. Any semi-competent attorney could argue that getting suspended for a late hit would be detrimental to the team

Still waiting for you to rephrase your question and add clarification. You haven’t done so yet. I’ll wait.

Feel free to give some of these really hard and vague examples that players will have so much trouble with then lol

Well. Don’t do things that are against the rules? Novel concept, I know!
