Or exactly what I said

If they were honestly worried about the ambiguity then they could hash out the details with the team. But they don’t want that
You have no idea what is and isn’t being negotiated on that end. You just know what the issue is and that the issue hasn’t been resolved to date

So you believe everything they’ve said publicly up until now?

They want it removed all together, which they’ve stated publicly. So no they don’t want to negotiate.

The article has one sentence from a bengals staffer saying he “believes” they’re the last team to implement that language

Because common sense? You can’t take something extremely absurd and be like, “see THIS is the gotcha!!!”
Someone could argue that saying, “the sky is blue” could be detrimental to the team but that’s just ignorant lol
Again, why is it so hard for some of y’all to understand this?
They want to protect an investment lol

The Bengals owner said he doesn’t want to pay people to sit in jail. That certainly sounds fair. Seems like an easy remedy to structure the contract to a pro-rated reduction in his guaranteed money if he misses any team activities because he’s incarcerated.

Making financial decisions in the millions assuming everyone is a rational actor seems pretty fool hearted to me

Stewart and his camp certainly aren’t. That’s for sure lol
Neither is the guy who thinks “we played bad” is going to void the contract lol

Carl Pickens criticized Bruce Coslet, an objectively awful coach, and that’s why the bengals started putting this clause in contracts.
He didn’t get arrested or take steroids. He criticized the coach.
So again, why wouldn’t “we played and prepared like shite” be off limits?

I dont “think” it would but I wouldn’t bet $17 million on it

The hilarious thing about the bengals putting in this clause because Carl Pickens talking shite about a bad coach is they actually did have a run on players getting arrested

Why are you the way you are?
quote:
The sticking point in the negotiations, Brown said, is a dispute over the language in Stewart's rookie contract pertaining to potential conduct detrimental to the team. In that scenario, it could void guaranteed money owed to Stewart, which is a clause the Bengals added recently to mirror other teams around the league.
From another article:
quote:
Per The Athletic's Jayna Bardahl and Paul Dehner Jr., the default language in the Bengals' offer is the same the Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks used to sign their 2025 first-round picks (Walter Nolen and Grey Zabel, respectively).
I’ve also heard it at least three times in FSR.
