Why doesn’t a single sport want to continue without fans for a short time?

It would be the ONLY sport on TV with half of Americans or more forced to stay home. This just seems like a terrific time to grow your brand.

Liability from wrongful death lawsuits from fans, players, stadium staff, broadcast crew, medical staff contracting Covid19 at sporting events.

It’s just too risky right now. I do believe most sports will start without fans. Especially indoor sports like the NBA. But not right now. I’m thinking late May or first of June without fans. Hopefully by July we are back to normal.

Thats probably optimistic. Travel alone would be a problem. Teams from regions hit hardest travelling to areas where its under control. um no thanks. yall just stay over there.

So a team travelling to a a city where its "under control", and it's going to spread like wildfire? This is serious but damn can some of y'all overblow shite. It's already in all areas, a team travelling to a different city isn't going to change anything.

The athletes are too busy working on a vaccine or treatment for the virus. You know they don’t just play with a ball.

Sure seems like we should be able to find a way to play baseball.

Give the catcher and ump special masks and get this thing going.

Do you really need this question answered or are you just trying to start a discussion?

Really just trying to start a discussion.

A basketball game without fans would have;

12 players per side
5 coaches/trainers per side
10-15 tv personnel that are spread out
3 refs
may need 10-20 personnel/security to operate everything else

So you are talking about 50-70 people inside a giant arena.

You would think a multi billion dollar industry would be able to work through these logistics to bring some stability to Americans.

With like 8 different NBA playerd tested positive. That likely ruined the chances of any sports playing for the time being.

Possibly in a month or 2, once testing becomes alot more readily available, with convenient results time that doesnt take an entire week to come back. It becomes feasible again.

Until teams has a way to regularly test players/staff to ensure there arent any sick personnel, we wont be seeing any sports for a while, unfortunately.

Okay then why can't the PGA continue to play?

You think these guys are any more at risk of catching it at the course than at their home course?

There's been players on at least 6-7 different teams who've tested positive so far. That's why the idea of playing games right now has zero chance of happening.

Really once Gobert and Mitchell tested positive that was the end of the empty arena idea. If a player on one team was unknowingly carrying the virus and it has a 10-14 incubation period, they could pass it on to players on 5-6 opposing teams they'd play within that time span. Then players on those teams would pass it on to their opponents and so on. With up to 2 week incubation period, a player on one team who was infected would only have 1-2 degrees of separation from every other player in the league

Probably had more to do with travel issues and PGA not wanting to make golfers get on planes twice a week going to and from events and risk contracting it from someone on a plane.

Because no one's priority is to get sports on TV right now.

There are plenty of people whose priority is to get everything back to normal. I would say sports not being on TV has a major impact on society.

Also, sports has a odd way of bringing everyone together.

EX: Saints Superbowl run after Katrina
Astros after Harvey
Patriots after 9/11
Red Sox after Boston bombing

The flaw in your thinking is neglecting the fact that most people are disgusting and don't know how to avoid spreading and contracting infection.
