Why does everyone keep saying Ohio state is clearly the better team?

In 2014, OSU was on fire. And it made sense that they got the nod because they were playing great football

This year, not so much

Last 6 games

Loss to penn state in which OSU looked better

4 point win over northwestern

Blowout win over Maryland

Blowout win over Nebraska

1 point win over Michigan state

2 ot over Michigan in which they were outplayed

So yes, there resume is good, but they don't really pass the eye test and I wouldn't say they are celery better than PSU right now.

So you want to use resume or eye test? Pick one

If you use resume

PSU and OSU have the same amount of wins

PSU has 2 top 10 wins and OSU has 3

PSU has 2 losses and OSU has 1

PSU won head to head

PSU won big 10 title

On resume, I can't take OSU

Other than their better record and tougher schedule, no reason at all.

So we are back to using record only? I though Herbie and everyone else said we are past looking at just number of losses

Well, now that looking at simply number of losses helps the blue blood, we are all back on it

Not my fault you don't know what a better resume looks like

You just admitted it's not

OSU has more top 25 wins and less losses. That is what a resume is. The conference title game only got them closer, it STILL doesn't have them close. I mean even with the conference title they have less good wins, and OSU has 2 top 10 wins on the road.

As I said it's not my fault you don't know what a better resume looks like

PSU vs OSU

11 wins to 11 wins

2 losses to 1 loss

2 top 10 wins vs 3 top 10 wins

1 head to head win vs 0 head to head win

1 big ten title vs 0 big ten title

Yeh, I like PSU's resume

Penn State will have one top ten win

Ohio State will have two

Wisky isn't staying in the top ten after this weekend.

No, you are just looking at only one part of the resume

So nothing changes? It went from 3 to 2, now it will be 2 to 1

But these are the 2 metrics that matter first. If PSU hadn't lost to Pitt they would be in, even with a 40 point loss to Michigan.

Yes they will. Who are they going to move up? 6 lost, 10 lost, 8 lost

No nothing. Just don't buy Wisky being top ten. But like the OSU guy said below they may not drop far. Total B1G bias from the committee if that happens.

Well that's kind of ridiculous to hold against Penn State. The chances of a team staying in the top 10 after a loss are slim to none.

It says championships and head to head matters when teams are "comparable"

11-2 team that has 2 top 10 wins is comparable to an 11-1 team with 3 top 10 wins

If someone says that isn't comparable, they are lying

Okay, what if Team A went 8-5. 4 losses were out of conference to terrible teams. But they win every conference game except for one.

Team B goes 11-1. They win all of their out of conference games against ranked teams and win all of their conference games except for 1.

Team B's lone loss happened to be to Team A, who is in their division.

Now, Team A and Team B both are 7-1 in conference, but the 8-5 team gets to play in the conference championship because they win the tie-breaker. Team B simply had the "wrong loss".

Now, is 9-5 conference champion Team A more deserving of getting into the playoff over 11-1 Team B?

I take the 11-1 team

Now tell me how what you posted is even comparable to what is happening
