You basically hit every frustration of ULL. One of the most popular misconceptions is that we're "trying to be LSU". We, like any other university in this state, seek that mantle of being that secondary school in this state. Why is that wrong?
I always tell people, LSU annoys me at times, but my university doesn't go head-to-head with LSU for recruits in athletics. I'd rather whip Tech, Tulane and UL-Monroe on the reg and elevate ourselves that way. So if second-tier kids in this state want to play right away, we can say "we own Tech. We own the Warhawks. Our city is better than both of those. Come be a Ragin' Cajun."
That's really what it's about...

8 out of 10 people I know that went to UL, which is a lot, hate LSU. It's fine with me because I could give a shite about UL. I was honestly pulling for them last night because I have a few friends that pull for LSU and went to UL so I wanted them to enjoy a bowl W. The rest of those LSU hatin tards can DIAF.

The more I think about it, I really want us to play up Lafayette...it's a great city with lots of culture. Sure the traffic is shitty...but that's neither here nor there.

You know your right to be honest.....I know a lot of peeps that live in Lafayette (mostly transplants) & they all say that the natives are incredibly hospitable & nice to you on a visit......BUT if you move there & if you don't have roots in Lafayette, you're treated like an outsider?!?!? what's up with that..,I hear that a lot! Can any Lafayette explain this?

ULL is the short fat mouthy kid's neighbor who talks and screams the loudest and most obnoxious to let you know how much he's disrespected and overlooked by his coaches as to the reason he doesn't play.
As opposed to the likeable kid who always has his nose to the grindstone who you pull for because 'he gets it'. He's the kid that will get the props and the respect b/c he works hard and easily likable

Amen! I still remember when Tulane had their perfect season in 1998, the hate from LSU fans was off the chart. It's really demeaning for a program of LSU's stature.

I think the arrogance goes both ways. Maybe not on this board but it does.
From LSUs side it's more from those fans who are white trash types that can't get into school that were walking down bourbon telling the ULL fans frick you last night.
Personally, I just pull for the state to win and make us all look good.

Went to the NO Bowl last nite. I had an LSU sideline jacket on. I didn't know it would be that big of a deal. Boy was I wrong. Biggest collection of idiots I've ever seen in one place. ULL fans have the little brother syndrome, and hate LSU.

Not that it will put an end to all the ranting but I happened to be at this establishment yesterday. One of the waitresses (barmaids), who is originally from Mississippi, wrote the message on that sign. She said the last time LSU played in N.O. a group of purple and gold clad fans stiffed her, hence the message. Take it FWIW.

when we lived in Laf I went to probably 10-15 ULL home baseball games for several reasons...one I love baseball, two its a fun relaxing venue. the hate and comments I used to get if I wore an LSU hat or anything LSU was laughable. ULL fans trash us for our classless fans, HAH!!!! I also am a season tix holder for LSU BB and not once never have I heard a crued comment by an LSU fan toward a ULL fan and I've gone to every LSU ULL BB game in the past decade

We had 4 with purple and gold and got snide comments all night. I just laughed.
I was excited that they won and gave high fives all around, but their fanbase is delusional and DEFINITELY jealous.

Well all of the people in New Orleans that don't give a rat's arse about ULL could have stayed home and you would have played in front of about 20,000 people. That would look real nice on national television.
Perhaps some people just enjoy football and wanted to watch what turned out to be a very exciting game. Congrats to the Cajuns.
