To help protect the coach from after games. They are generally highest law enforcement in state so can cross state lines for jurisdiction. It's part of tradition. Plus they used to escort team buses to stadiums before teams flew.

Snyder at K State has the head of campus police and KS troopers do security sweeps and stuff two days before they arrive. He's paranoid like that.

The cops that escort coaches get off on that shite. Especially the 2 with Miles, you can watch them as the he leaves the field at the end of the half position themselves so they will be on camera looking like they are doing something.
