So just like clubs in a golf bag in disc golf your bag consists of three clubs (discs)?

Some people get caught up in the discs. You can't correct bad form with a disc. Like any sport you need good fundamentals as a foundation.

I love it. Been playing a little over a year. Recently started playing in tournaments which is fun.

Going to PDF play in a doubles tournament on Saturday.

There are all sorts of discs from all sorts of disc companies with all sorts of plastics. It can get to be a bit too much if you get too deep into it. It's a pretty popular sport these days, which is cool. Gets kids outdoors. But generally you will have a putter, midrange, and driver discs. Discs generally cost between $14-$40 I guess. You can play with 3 cheap discs and have a blast and never really needing to upgrade honestly. And within those three categories you could have discs that have all sorts of different flight paths depending on the shot you're trying to make. Like I said, I'm not that good, so I'm more worried about the speed number and the turn numbers.
All the discs have names too which I really don't memorize or anything... there are some very popular or highly used specific discs out there that people generally like and have in their bag.

But every disc is designed to have a flight path and that is represented by the flight numbers on the disc. This is probably not something you should worry too much about starting out.

I takes a decent amount of throw speed to throw the high speed discs. If you don't throw them fast enough, they don't hit their designed flight. I can usually throw my midrange as far as my driver, just because my slower throw speed works on the midrange but it's not fast enough for the driver. If that makes sense.

Also, the UDISC app is widely used for locating and rating disc golf courses. I don't use it, but you may also be able to track your performances as well.. not sure.

What discs should I get to start?

I started by buying used discs on FB Marketplace. I bought over 90 discs for $150. It was a great start. If I were starting now, I'd would look at putters, midrange and fairway drivers. I've come down off the drivers because I have better control of the lower speed disc.

Putters: I like the Aviar, Warden (Judge), Reko and the Entropy for shaping shots.
Midrange: VRoc, Crave,
Fairway: I prefer the Dynamic Discs Convict and Escape. I'm also liking the MVP Resistor
Driver: I lean Dynamic Discs.

Best starting disc is the Innova Leopard. It will show you what you are doing wrong, and it is a good disc for play.

Yeah, I still use the Aviar and Leopard.

Like I said in another post.. you can play disc golf with an initial investment of around $60. A cheap disc set and a small backpack. Backpacks are actually great to use. Keeps your discs of course, but also pockets for a bottle of water and keys and stuff.

My forehand was my bread and butter, but I've gotten into a bad habit of turning the wrist over, and it's killing my game.

Another bit of advice...

Discs come in all different colors.. even the same discs. I always try to get brightly colored discs. You will throw discs in the thick weeds, bushes, everywhere. Brightly covered discs are much easier to find. I go with bright orange, red, yellow when I can.

Sometimes discs are hard as crap to find, especially if the color blends with the environment a little.

Some of the best Disc Golfers I've played with were old Ultimate players.
I never heard of Ultimate until I was too damn old. I would have loved playing that when I was younger.
Instead I was playing tackle football without pads. LOL

Worlds were in Emporia, Ks. (about an hour and a half from me) last year. Couldnt make it unfortunately but we had an XC meet at Jones park (where A pool played rounds 1 and 3) a couple days after and there was a lot still set up from worlds which was cool to see.

you can. They actually just got rid of a 10 round save cap they had on the free version as well. I need to start recording and viewing practice rounds on there again. Would probably help me out

This is 100% true. Its just an overstable disc, and flies like a putter. Throwing the understable drivers is a bit challenging. we don't keep the disc flat through our throwing motion like yall do, unless we are throwing an outside in throw. It just takes some adjustment.
