He's at a better gig right now. One that could be in the playoff hunt this year. Lol at the notion he'd waste his time with Baylor.

Houston winning the peach bowl was a better win than Baylor has had in their "Oregon south" run.

Baylor's one appearance in a major bowl ended with them getting blown out by UH's AAC mate UCF.

I wonder how long he would wait to see if UH gets the offer to make the jump. I forgot what his salary jumps to but I know it's substantial. I could see him waiting it out a few years though even if UT is available.

People act like it's foregone conclusion he would make the jump there if it's available (or to A&M for that matter if UT isn't) but I don't think it is. He has a relatively easy and low risk set up there right now

It paid off for guys like Gary Patterson and Kyle Whittingham, and Chris Petersen stayed at BSU much, much longer than anyone would have expected. I think UH has a decent shot at keeping Herman for a while because in addition to the job security and inherent recruiting advantages of coaching the only potential major program in Houston, the university has demonstrated a financial commitment by paying him big-time money, upgrading its facilities across the board, and quietly campaigning their asses off for the Big 12. It helps that Fertitta (whose heli is likely landing on the office building across 610 from me right now ) is backing the effort.

Where UH differs from TCU and Utah is that UT has no interest in allowing UH in the Big 12. Red McCombs even said the other day that UH would be a "top dog" in the Big 12.
