Tyson Gay. He was the fastest US guy ever.

Usain Bolt has said Tyson Gay should have been “kicked out of the sport” for doping and labelled the decision to reduce the American’s ban and reinstate him as “the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard”.

Gay, who is the second fastest man in history behind Bolt after running the 100m in 9.69 seconds in 2009, tested positive for banned anabolic steroids in 2013 and was banned for one year by the United States Anti-Doping Agency after co-operating with the organisation.

He was stripped of the silver medal he won with the 4x100m relay team at the London 2012 Olympics and had his results from July 2012 wiped out. Upon returning to the sport last summer, Gay said he felt “welcomed with open arms”.

You can’t have just sprinters when making this list.

I’m not even advocating for just distance runners. Fosbury, Eaton, Jenner pre self mutilation, Crouser is making his name known currently. There’s a ton of people you can pick outside of just sprinters.

Well now you can, many have been mentioned in this thread.

You didn't know Jim Ryun? He is the last American to hold the world record in the mile run.

Prefontaine? Two movies were made about him.

Billy Mills? Another movie made about him.

How many Tyson Gay movies are out there that I'm missing?

Just to throw out a name that hasn’t been mentioned. Leroy Burrell was a 2x world record holder in the 100 m. and was a big rival of Carl Lewis in the early ‘90s. I believe he’s the HC of Houston’s track team now and that’s a pretty big program.
