Where did all of the bare footed kickers go?

Most states adopted the NFHS rules 20-plus years ago (Texas and Massachusetts are the exceptions). NFHS rules do not allow barefoot kicking.
Also, shoes are much better now.

Shoes have gotten a lot better. I remember as kids when we used kick field goals barefooted off the street over the power lines. We had bloody feet but we DNGAF. Now I get nervous walking out to my truck at home barefoot..

I think I've figured out the whole "are kickers football players" argument. If you're out there kicking field goals without shoes on then I'm counting you as a football player. Those guys look badass.

This is a good video about...well, it sort of was a fad...because nobody after the 80's nobody did it really. But it was popular for a brief window.

wonder if that guy stood around the whole game without a shoe or sock on, or did he remove them to kick.
