i've been watching European soccer since the 2002 world cup.. i played my whole life through high school... but up until recently i wouldn't even bother discussing it on here because there jut didn't seem to be many people to talk about it with... now that some posts have starting showing up and getting more attention, i think it really brings out all the soccer fans that were using this board to discuss other sports

and after the US bombs the World Cup, is it going to fade away for three more years?

When China lost in the Olympics basketball ratings PLUMMETED, and all the Chinese frat kids started making fun of the affluent kids who followed the NBA, labeling them as "pretentious" and "toors" (no el's, remember?).

And when the Dominican Republic never beat the U.S., Cuba, or Japan in international baseball competition, the fans of the sport finally got realistic, coming to the epiphany that they had just been following the MLB because they wanted to be different and feel special.

Yeah, a few more World Cup losses and us soccer fans will start following Nascar, playing more fantasy football, and sucking more dick like the rest of you

Yes, a sport where people kick you constantly, slide into you, tackle you, and kick a ball at warp speed into your chest, face, back, whatever is unmanly. So is having the endurance to run up and down a massive pitch. Soccer is more manly than baseball for sure. I'd love for you to tell Wayne Rooney he's unmanly.

Most of you who talk shite about soccer probably don't even know the rules of the game.

Ouch you kicked my shin guards
Soccer is for impoverished, socialistic countries where there aren't the resources for better games and there isn't great nutrition. I will give it the edge over baseball i guess though, i'm not much of a fan of that either.

Oh no, you tackled me in my full pads and helmet. The same logic can be applied about American Football, a sport I really enjoy. Waving your little cock around sports where you hit someone won't make you more manly. What exactly are so manly about basketball or baseball that make them better than soccer?

(That's to anyone, not just to the above poster)

ouch you hit the 30 pounds of pads and the helmet I have to protect my bitch self, and if I am on the field for more than 11 minutes straight I get tired and need to come out, It is brutal playing for 60 minutes with a break every 30 seconds

Rooney's family is filled with boxers, I don't think he'd take that shite

right so being invented and thriving in England, whose economy is literally kicking ours arse right now and has for the past decade makes it impoverished, good work a-hole

of all the people I talked to about soccer, their main excuse for not getting into it was that they didn't understand the rules, and I tell them that compared to the NFL, soccer's rule book is 1/100000th the size

You're going to compare being hit in football to being kicked in the shin? lol. Football and bball players are the best athletes in the world way ahead of soccer players except maybe in endurance (seriously doubt that).
Fixed: soccer is for starving 3rd world countries and Euros.
ETA: not to mention you're hooligan fans would put even Ohio State and West Virginia fans to shame

Basketball players are not more athletically talented than most soccer players. I'm sorry. It's not even debatable.

ETA: Sorry, I meant debatable. I show comparisons in a later post which makes it quite comparable. Stupid me.

I don't think either are better. Basketball players are fast and powerful and can jump. Some dribble well, some shoot well. Soccer players are fast, agile, and have a shite ton of stamina. Some dribble well, shoot well. They're very comparable. The sports are very similar actually if you look at the very basics of the game.

i am not saying the two sports are not comparable, because obviously they are.

...but if you believe soccer has athletes similar to lebron james, kobe bryant, kevin garnett, etc, than you are on crack.

because they are conditioned differently. they have training regimens to maintain a certain muscle build.

whereas soccer players are generally much more lean because of the endurance the game requires and the distance traversed in a match.

but they have the same skill set of coordinating your limbs to project a ball to a desired location, using different speeds and rhythms to out maneuver your opponent.

They have the same caliber athletes with proficiencies in different aspects. Cristiano Ronaldo's footwork is insane. Ronaldinho can do pretty anything he wants on the pitch. I mean I think LeBron is a living legend in the NBA. The guy is insane, but comparing athletes from different sports is stupid because they have to be good at totally different things.

what the frick?!

to put it simply, who is quicker? can run faster? jump higher? who is stronger?

trust me, if you lined up the top nba athletes and tested their attributes to the top euro soccer stars, it would not even be close in comparison.

i do not see what conditioning has to do with being a better athlete than someone.

certainly, nobody would go around arguing marathon runners as elite athletes just because they are in top physical condition.

that's because they're black, not because they play basketball

they have an extra leg muscle, or something
