I'm not saying he would be forced to sell to Magic, just forced to sell in general. Your telling me a black guy buying a team from a racist white guy is the norm and should be predictable? Give me a break.

Not only that, but the same black guy that the guy was bantering about???

Magic buying them would mean Phil Jackson won't be bringing Doc Rivers to New York.

i think of situational irony as an unexpected outcome than what was initially expected. Like if a lifeguard drowns or a cop shooting himself during a gun safety class.

Just a black guy buying from a racist isn't really ironic, but with the surrounding circumstances it's close enough IMO. But if he lost his team or was forced to sell to a racist then yes that would be ironic.

Agreed, those are ironic situations.

Disagree with this, and I'm going to get on my soapbox for a minute. When did our society stop trying to get things right and settle for "close enough?" One thing I like about TD is that people are called out for being morons all the time. I've made posts where I talked out of my arse, and even though I hate being wrong, I appreciate someone correcting me because I don't want my ignorance to perpetuate.

So nosaj, you don't understand irony. Your example was incorrect, and you're a tard. Now go into the world and correct others on their misuse of irony. You are welcome.

No one is saying this. They're just saying that you don't know what irony is. And you don't. Start with reading the wikipedia page on irony. It should help you out.

There are several different kinds of irony, but the basic idea is that something is being represented as something that is in fact contrary to what it actually is. This is 5th grade lit kind of stuff. Refresh your memory.

As a season ticket holder this would be the greatest move and a huge slap to face of Laker Nation.

It would also confirm that the Clippers are L.A.'s Team

Does the fact that Alanis Morisette's song contains no actual incidences of irony make the song itself ironic?

The part where the guy never went on a plane due to fear of flying and finally got the courage to go on one only to crash was kind of ironic.

the irony is that he had a fear of flying, but not a fear of crashing
